An electrical contact is provided. The electrical contact includes a body with a top surface, a bottom surface, and side edges. The body includes a retention finger formed integral with the body and the retention finger is adapted to secure the body to a carrier. The carrier has at least one hole from the first surface to the second surface. The retention finger extends through at least one hole to engage the second surface of the carrier.

Electrical contact and connector

An environmentally, sealed, feedthrough connector of the type that may be used for externally accessing an outdoor TV line amplifier. The connector includes a cylindrical housing having an insert molded contact centrally disposed therein and a deformable O-ring about the insert molded contact. The connector is assembled under an axially compressive force which deforms the O-ring into sealing engagement with the internal wall of the housing.

Sealed coaxial feedthrough connector

An electrical connector (10) is disclosed having an improved securing member (16) that serves to accurately position the connector on a circuit board (14), to secure the connector thereto, and to latchingly engage a mating connector (12) to hold the two connectors in mated engagement. The securing member (16) includes a U-shaped portion (60) that straddles an outer wall (46) of the connector housing (20), one side (62) of the U-shaped portion extending through an opening (42) in the housing and through a hole (92) in the circuit board (14). The other side (64) of the U-shaped portion extends along the outside of the outer wall (46) and terminates in a mounting foot (70) that extends outwardly at right angles thereto. The mounting foot (70) is soldered to a metalized mounting pad (90) on the circuit board (14). Latch projections (78, 80) extend from the U-shaped portion (60) inwardly into an opening (30) in the connector housing (20) that receives the end (32) of the mating connector (12).

A detector on a wire lead machine includes a pair of contacts biased into a normally closed position. The wire is fed between the contacts, keeping the contacts open, and the insulation on the wire prevents electrical conductivity between the contacts. If the wire runs out, the contacts close to shut off the machine. Additionally, a splice on the wire establishes an electrical path between the contacts and, again, the machine is shut off. The detector includes a detection circuit which generates a control signal. In the event a splice is passing through the contacts, the detection circuit generates a control signal having a relatively short time duration (as for example, 100 microseconds) and holds the signal for a sufficient time period (as for example, 500 milliseconds). This allows a suitable control means (which may include a microprocessor) to shut off the machine because of either wire runout or a splice on the wire, thereby preventing serious damage to the machine and maintaining productivity.

Strip feeding mechanism for a terminal applicator comprises a feed pawl which is mounted on an oscillatory pawl carrier so that oscillation of the pawl carrier results in to and from movement of the feed pawl. The pawl carrier is coupled by a torque responsive coupling to an oscillatory shaft which in turn is coupled through a gear train to a rack on the applicator ram. Reciprocation of the ram results in oscillation of the shaft which in turn results in oscillation of the pawl carrier. The amplitude of oscillation of the pawl carrier, and therefore the limits of the feed stroke of the feed pawl, are adjusted by means of a fixed stop which is on the applicator frame and movable stops which are on the pawl carrier. The torque responsive coupling permits overtravel of the shaft relative to the pawl carrier.

Strip feeder for terminal application

A frame and ram for terminal applicators is described which can be used for applicators for ladder strip terminals and can be used for applicators for in-line strip terminals. The frame has first and second mounting sites for strip feeders, the first mounting site being used when a ladder strip applicator is being produced. The second mounting site is used for the feeding mechanism for an applicator for in-line strip. The applicator ram has first and second slots or grooves therein in which racks can be mounted. A rack is mounted in the first groove for cooperation with the strip feeder for a ladder strip and a rack is mounted in the second groove or channel for cooperation with a strip feeder for in-line strip.
