A received transport stream may be demultiplexed into a compressed audio stream and a control stream. The compressed audio stream may be decoded. Audio corresponding to a tuned program may be stored. The stored audio may be separated from the compressed audio stream by subtracting the stored audio from the decoded audio stream, until a no-active-speech command is found in the control stream. Responsive to the no-active-speech command, the subtracting may be omitted for a period corresponding to a duration of the no-active-speech command.

Simplified decoding of voice commands using control planes

Systems and methods for training voice activation control of electronic equipment are disclosed. One example method includes receiving a selection corresponding to at least one command used to control the electronic equipment. The method further includes instructing a user to speak, and responsive to the instruction, receiving a digitized speech stream. The method further includes segmenting the speech stream into speech segments, storing at least one of the speech segments as an entry in a dictionary, and associating the dictionary entry with the selected command.

Systems and methods for voice activated commands in a digital home communication terminal are disclosed. One example method includes storing a program audio signal corresponding to a program tuned by the digital home communication terminal. The method also includes storing an incoming audio signal carrying speech and removing from the incoming audio signal a portion of the incoming audio signal that corresponds to the program audio signal, this producing an improved version of the incoming audio signal. The method also includes selecting one of a plurality of voice-activated commands that corresponds to the improved version of the incoming audio signal, and performing a function corresponding to the selected voice-activated command.

Recognition of voice-activated commands

Included are systems and methods for data authentication. At least one embodiment of a system includes a secure processor configured as a physically secure environment, the secure processor further configured to receive a control word from a headend, the secure processor further configured to encrypt the received control word using a first encryption key. Other embodiments of a system includes a transport processor configured to receive the encrypted control word, the transport processor further configured to decrypt the received control word using a first decryption key, wherein the first decryption key is compatible with the first encryption key.

Data authentication with a secure environment

A digital subscriber communication terminal includes an adaptive output interface having a device key set, which, along with a subscriber device coupled to the adaptive output interface, determines a 'shared secret.' The adaptive output interface uses the 'shared secret' to encrypt content and transmits the content to the subscriber device coupled to the adaptive output interface. The digital subscriber communications terminal includes a processor, a memory having an encrypted device key set and an encrypted device key set decryptor stored therein and a secure element having a key decryptor. The secure element is adapted to receive the encrypted device key set decryptor and use the key decryptor to decrypt the encrypted device key set decryptor. The device key set decryptor is provided to the processor, which decrypts the encrypted device key set using the device key set decryptor, and the device key set is loaded into the adaptive output interface.

Secure negotiation and encryption module

A method, apparatus and system that receives speech commands at a remote control device microphone, digitizes those input speech commands, compresses the digitized speech commands, multiplexes control commands with the compressed digitized speech commands, and transmits the compressed digitized speech commands to an electronic device, such as a digital home communication terminal (DCHT). The electronic device decompresses and interprets the speech commands to allow the remote control operator to control the electronic device. Because speech recognition is performed at the electronic device, rather than at the remote control device, the remote control does not have to interpret and transmit infrared signals that represent user commands. This simplifies the processing and voice recognition capabilities required by the remote control. Additionally, because the electronic device processes the digitized voice received from the remote control device, the electronic device can negate the effect of sounds, such as television audio, likely captured by the microphone on the remote control device. This results in a great capability of the electronic device to interpret user commands.

Systems and methods for TV navigation with compressed voice-activated commands

A method, apparatus and system that receives speech commands at a remote control device, digitizes those speech commands, and transmits the digitized speech commands to an electronic device, such as a digital home communication terminal (DCHT). The electronic device interprets the speech commands to allow the remote control operator to control the electronic device.

An asymmetrical network for coupling customer-premises Internet hosts such as personal computers to the Internet. The head end of a CATV system has a high-bandwidth connection to the Internet. The down ink conning the personal computers to the Internet is the cables provided by the CATV system; the up link is a telephone connection to the head end. A router is connected to the down link by means of an RF modem, to the up link by means of an analog modem, and to a LAN which is connected to the Pcs. The router routes IP packets for the hosts that are received on the CATV cable to the hosts via the LAN; it routes IP packets from the hosts that are destined for the Internet to the head end via the telephone line. The asymmetrical network conserves IP addresses and addresses on the CATV cable by dynamically allocating the IP addresses for an RF modem's hosts and an address on the CATV cable for the RF modem in response to a request made by the RF modem via the telephone line. It further saves IP addresses by assigning a non-unique IP address to the router for use inside the LAN. When the CATV system fails, the asymmetrical network automatically begins to use the telephone line as both the up link and the down link, and when the CATV system is restored, the asymmetrical network automatically returns to using the CATV cable as the down link and the telephone line as the up link. A further feature of the asymmetrical network is that the head end components and the RF modem have IP addresses, so that standard TCP/IP protocols can be used to control the asymmetrical network.

Method of dynamically assigning a logical network address and a link address

A method for transporting digital data from a sender to a receiver in a system where the digital data is broken into data packets for transmission over radio frequency channels, each data packet including forward error-correcting code, the method comprising the steps of receiving the data packets at the receiver; reconstructing the data packets to the digital data, the forward error-correcting code for fixing corrupted data packets; and halting the data packet reconstructing step if a data packet is uncorrectable.
