A hollow, air filled body support cushion such as a seat cushion or mattress is formed from typically three interfitting matrices each comprising a set of hollow cells formed from natural or synthetic rubber or rubber-like plastic. The cells of each matrix are spaced apart to accommodate between them cells of each of the other matrices to define a body support surface made up of the tops of all of the cells. Each matrix has separate fluid ducts between its cells. A fluid pressurizing and control means such as air pumps is used to inflate and deflate the matrices in sequence to shift body support from one set of cells to another for promoting blood circulation and enhancing comfort.

Fluid pressurized cushion

A seat is described which includes provision for two support surfaces comprising a matrix having openings through which a multiplicity of support plugs extend. The support plugs are raised and lowered through the openings by the provision of a fluid inflatable bag provided within the seat below a support plate to which the plugs are connected.

Seat having movable supporting surfaces

An apparatus for winding coils of wire on the core of an armature having a pair of rotatable wire winding members rotatably mounted on first and second housings. A first pair of plate beam assemblies yieldably mounts the first housing on the support. A second pair of plate beam assemblies yieldably mounts the second housing on the support. The plate beam assemblies locate the wire winding members in wire winding positions adjacent the core of the armature. A control unit connected to each housing is operable to move the housings to selected positions by flexing the plate beam assemblies. The control unit has a fluid motor and linkages that are operable to move the housings and wire winding members away from the core so that the wound armature can be removed from the apparatus.

Flexure mount for coil winding device

An armature winding machine having an indexing mechanism for indexing the armature. The indexing mechanism includes an indexing clutch driven by an electric motor. A gear drive connects the clutch to the holding structure for the armature. The indexing clutch has a control collar that is selectively engaged with a plurality of pawls operable to stop the control collar at predetermined precise rotational positions. The positions of the pawls relative to the control collar are individually adjustable on a support providing for selective adjustment of the indexing positions of the clutch.
