Disclosed is a lower pressure xenon lamp (12) and the driver circuitry therefor for producing relatively short bursts of intense light from the lamp (12). The lamp (12), including its associated driver circuitry (50) can be used in theatrical, stage, movie and/or video production to simulate, among other things, bursts of lighting. The lamp (12) is installed in a fixture together with a power supply (20) and a control system (50) is provided for controlling when the lamp (12) is turned on and off. Preferably, the control system (50) includes manually operated switches (53, 57, 54) and preferably one or more controllers (50) can be coupled together in a series fashion, should it be desired to control the lamp (12) for a greater number of time cycles then permitted by a single controller (50). Alternative power supplies (20) are disclosed. One power supply (20) permits the intensity of the flashes of light (12) to be controlled.

Low pressure xenon lamp and driver circuitry for use in theatrical

A projection system for a theatre in the round having a plurality of moving image projectors. The projectors can be either film projectors or television-type projectors. They project in an essentially cylindrical surface which is viewed by people at a viewing location. A lens is associated with each moving image projector, the lens having an optical axis located at or above a top edge of the viewable portion of the cylindrical surface. A source of moving images is associated with each lens, the center of which source is located above the optical axis of the associated lens such that moving images are projected by each lens downwardly toward a portion of the essentially cylindrical surface in an essentially distortion-free manner.

Theatre in the round projection apparatus and method

Disclosed is a low pressure xenon lamp and the driver circuitry therefore for producing relatively short bursts of intense light from the lamp. The lamp, including its associated driver circuitry, can be used in theatrical, stage, movie and/or video productions to simulate, among other things, bursts of lightning. The lamp is installed in a fixture together with a power supply and a control system is provided for controlling when the lamp is turned on and off. A reflecting mirror for reflecting a beam of light emitted from a light source along an optical axis, the mirror comprising at least two spherical sections. Each section is arranged to produce an image of the light source adjacent to but not coincident with the light source.

Lamp reflector assembly

A controlled color light source including a lamp for projecting a beam of light, a power supply for energizing the lamp and a light conduit for sampling a portion of the light emitted from the lamp. A beam splitter is arranged to split the light from the conduit into two channels, and a pair of photo detectors, one for each channel are arranged to receive the light from the conduit via the beam splitter. A divider circuit has a pair of inputs and an output, the inputs being connected to the two photo detectors and an output circuit is connected to the output of the divider circuit for providing an output signal which is proportional to the color of light captured by the conduit.

Controlled color light source

A reflector assembly for projecting a beam of light along an optical axis, the assembly including an enclosure having an aperture for projecting the beam of light and a source of light mounted within the enclosure. A reflecting mirror is disposed within the enclosure and arranged to move axially with respect to the optical axis of the beam of light between positions adjacent the aperture and remote from the aperture. A plurality of reflector segments are disposed between the movable reflector and the aperture in the enclosure, the segments each being defined as a portion of a cone or cylinder and with gaps therebetween arranged so as to permit the passage of air between the segments.
