In one example, an apparatus is described, which includes an electronic component, a thermal dissipation unit, a thermal interface material disposed between the electronic component and the thermal dissipation unit, and an adhesive sealant applied around the thermal interface material between the electronic component and the thermal dissipation unit.

According to an example, to repair a disk drive error, a determination is made if a disk field-repair is possible, if an operating system recovery image is available, and if any failed sectors exist in the operating system recovery image. A user is prompted to begin a repair. Failed sectors on the disk drive are read and overwritten, and an operating system recovery is started. In some examples, the disk drive error is an uncorrectable disk drive error.

An input/output (I/O) power control system comprises an electronic device having at least one I/O port and a controller, wherein the controller is configured to, while the electronic deice is powered off, detect coupling of an external device to the at least one I/O port and, in response to detecting the coupling, provide power to the I/O port.

An electrical connector having electrostatic discharge protection comprises a body and an electrostatic discharge dissipative element. The body defines a socket having electrical contacts configured to make electrical contact with electrical contacts along a bottom surface of a component module when the component module is inserted in the socket. The electrostatic discharge dissipative element is configured to make contact with the electrical contacts along the bottom surface of the component module before the electrical contacts along the bottom surface of the component module make contact with the electrical contacts of the socket.

An interconnect detection system comprises a first connector member having a set of laterally spaced-apart contacts for communicatively engaging a corresponding set of contacts of a second connector member, at least two of the contacts of the first connector member offset a predetermined distance in a non-lateral direction away from at least two respective contacts of the second connector member. The system also comprises an indicator configured to provide an indication of contact between the at least two offset contacts of the first connector member with respective contacts of the second connector member to verify a valid interconnect between the first and second connector members.

In one embodiment, an electrical connector adapted to receive a component module includes a body that defines a socket into which the module can be inserted, and an obstruction element adapted to physically interfere with the module when it is attempted to seat the module within the connector with the module only partially inserted into the socket.
