Described herein are automated banking machine cassette modules and cassettes. The cassette module may include but is not limited to a divert cassette positioned for easy access and a light pipe system for detecting when sheets are entering or leaving a cassette. The cassette may include but Is not limited to a cassette with an ink staining that does not reduce the capacity of the cassette, a torsion spring assembly coupled with a push plate in a cassette, a thumper and feed wheel assembly, and a method of assembling a thumper and feed wheel assembly that provides for proper timing of the feed wheels with the thumper wheels.

The electronic deposit slip to be sent to a server that is remotely located from the automated banking machine and data representative of the value of the financial instrument is sent to the authorizing host terminal to cause the financial account to be credited an amount corresponding to the value of the financial instrument.

An automated banking machine controlled responsive to data bearing records includes a card reader that reads identifying data from a user card. A host banking system authorizes operation of an automated banking machine responsive to computer verification of the identifying data. The automated banking machine can dispense cash to an authorized machine user in a cash dispensing transaction, and have the user's bank account charged for the cash amount dispensed. The automated banking machine can acquire image and magnetic data read from deposited checks to determine the genuineness of checks and the authority of a user to receive cash for the checks. Cash can be dispensed from the machine to a user in exchange for a deposited check.

An automated banking machine operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records. A card actuated automated banking machine may accept checks and dispense cash to users. The banking machine is operated to acquire image and magnetic data from deposited checks to determine the genuineness of checks and the authority of a user to receive cash for such checks. Cash may be credited to a user account corresponding to card data or may be dispensed to the user from the banking machine responsive to one or more deposited checks.

The machine is operable to carry out a financial transaction responsive to a determination that data read from a data bearing record, such as a card that is read by a card reader in the machine, corresponds to stored information for an authorized user or financial account. Document holding cassettes in the machine include circuitry that is wirelessly powered through inductive coupling. The machine can wirelessly read data from a cassette through use of induction.

The terminal processor is operative to cause a hardware device to process sheets in carrying out transactions involving financial transfers. A device processor in a hardware device is operative to communicate certain condition data associated with the hardware device to a portable device.
