This invention relates to a process for improving the yield and properties of jet fuel from a kerosene feed. More particularly, a kerosene feedstock is hydrotreated and dewaxed using a ZSM-48 catalyst to produce a jet fuel in improved yield and having improved properties.

Process to improve jet fuels

A process for upgrading a hydrocarbon feedstock containing waxy components and having an end boiling point exceeding 650&#xb0; F., which includes contacting the feedstock at superatmospheric hydrogen partial pressure with an isomerization dewaxing catalyst that includes ZSM-48 and contacting the feedstock with a hydrocracking catalyst to produce an upgraded product with a reduced wax content. Each catalyst is present in an amount sufficient to reduce the cloud point and the pour point of the feedstock at a conversion of greater than about 10%, and an overall distillate yield of greater than about 10% results from the process.

Process for catalytic dewaxing and catalytic cracking of hydrocarbon streams

This invention is directed to an extinction recycle naphtha hydrocracking processes. Large pore zeolite catalysts with Constraint Indices less than 2, such as USY or beta, which are loaded with noble metals such as Pt or Pd or with transition metals such as Ni in combination with Mo or W are employed. Preferably, low hydrogen partial pressures, and a feedstock relatively rich in hydrogen and low in aromatics content, are used, in order to extend catalyst cycle length.

Low pressure naphtha hydrocracking process

A method is provided for removing sulfur from an effluent produced by hydrotreating a hydrocarbon feed, said effluent having a heavy fraction containing polyaromatic sulfur compounds and a lighter fraction, said method comprising contacting the effluent with a noble metal containing hydrodearomatization catalyst on a support under super-atmospheric hydrogen pressure and reaction conditions sufficient to hydrogenate at least one ring of said polyaromatic sulfur compounds and thereby produce a product with a reduced sulfur content.

Process for removing sulfur from a hydrocarbon feed

This invention relates to the refining of petroleum products, and more particularly to an integrated hydroprocessing scheme involving a hydrocracking stage and subsequent dewaxing stage. Materials boiling in the middle distillate or lube oil range may be dewaxed. The bottoms streams (and optionally, other streams) of each stage are maintained separately from one another, during processing. Dewaxing may occur using either hydroisomerization catalysts or shape-selective catalysts or both in series. One embodiment employs a baffle in the flash zone of a fractionator to separate bottoms streams from each other. Alternatively, the effluent from the hydrocracking stage may be processed separately from the effluent from the dewaxing stage. The bottoms fraction from the dewaxing stage may be recycled back to the hydrocracking stage for further processing or used as lube base stock.

Integrated hydroprocessing scheme with segregated recycle

A process for reducing sulfur content in a gaseous stream with the production of elemental sulfur by first treating the gaseous steam with hydrogenation and hydrolysis to convert substantially all of the sulfur components therein to hydrogen sulfide. Then reducing the water content of the gaseous stream to optimize chemical equilibrium. Thereafter, the gaseous steam is contacted in an oxidation reactor with an acid catalyst at a temperature of about 150.degree. C. to about 350.degree. C. to convert hydrogen sulfide to elemental sulfur. The product gas leaving the oxidation reactor is cooled to separate elemental sulfur by condensation. The acid catalyst is a shape selective zeolite, a metal-exchanged or impregnated alumina, or a mixture thereof. The alumina is gamma phase alumina impregnated with from about 0.2 wt % to about 2.0 wt % metal.

Reduction of sulfur content in a gaseous stream

There is provided a process for regenerating a coked catalyst comprising a zeolite and a noble metal such as platinum. The process involves treating the coked catalyst under somewhat mild oxidation conditions, whereby a sufficient portion of the coke is removed from the catalyst to restore the hydrocarbon sorption properties of the zeolite component to the level observed in the non-coked form. Surprisingly, the original activity of the catalyst is substantially restored, even though a substantial amount of coke remains on the regenerated catalyst.

A sulfur-containing catalytically cracked naphtha is upgraded to form a low-sulfur gasoline product by a process which retains the octane contribution from the olefinic front end of the naphtha. Initially, the mercaptan sulfur in the front end of the cracked naphtha is converted to higher boiling disulfides by oxidation. The front end, which is then essentially an olefinic, high octane sulfur-free material, may be blended directly into the gasoline pool. The back end, which now contains the original higher boiling sulfur components such as thiophenes, together with the sulfur transferred from the front end as disulfides, is hydrotreated to produce a desulfurized product. This desulfurized product, which has undergone a loss in octane by saturation of olefins, is then treated in a second stage, by contact with a catalyst of acidic functionality, preferably a zeolite such as ZSM-5, under conditions which produce a product in the gasoline boiling range of higher octane value. Because this second product may contain combined organic sulfur, it may be subjected to a final desulfurization to reduce organic sulfur to acceptable levels.

Regenerator effluent gases are collected from different parts of the regenerator vessel in a common collection zone and passed through the catalyst separation cyclones from the common collection zone. Removal of nitrogen oxides from the regeneration effluent gases is enhanced by passing spent cracking catalyst through the effluent gases from a secondary spent catalyst inlet in the upper part of the regeneration vessel. Coke on the spent catalyst effects a reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) species in the effluent gases to nitrogen.
