An armband for an electronic device is provided. The armband includes a main body having a first surface and an opposing second surface, a first end and an opposing second end, and a longitudinal axis extending from the first end toward the opposing second end. The armband further includes a pocket formed between the first and second surfaces of the main body which is configured to removably receive an electronic device therein, an opening formed in the rear surface of the main body which provides access to the pocket and extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the main body, a flap configured to cover the opening, and a securing strap configured to removably secure the main body to an arm of a user.

Armband for an electronic device

An earphone device configured to be removably secured within an ear of a user includes a main body having a base wall and a longitudinal axis, a first projection extending outwardly away from the base wall perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and a second projection formed at a position spaced apart from the first projection and extending outwardly away from the base wall parallel to the longitudinal axis. The second projection has a tearshaped body tapering from a distal first end toward a proximal second end which defines a single connection point with the base wall. An opening is formed through the tearshaped body. In a use position, the first projection extends inwardly toward the internal cavity of the ear and the second projection deforms to conform to the antihelix of the ear, such that movement of the earphone device relative to the internal cavity of the ear is limited.

A sliding and rotating hinge module for supporting a display screen or the like, includes a bracket, a slider and a support member. The slider is capable of sliding movement relative to said bracket and said support member is capable of pivotal movement relative to said slider.

An earphone projects sound into an ear having an acoustic meatus, a tragus, an intertragic notch, an anti-tragus and a canal. The earphone includes a base that is positioned proximate an outer surface of the tragus and anti-tragus when the earphone is mounted to the ear. A speaker housing at least partially contacts the acoustic meatus of the ear and includes a speaker cover positioned proximate the canal when the earphone is mounted to the ear. First and second tragus lobes extend from the base generally toward the speaker housing. The first and second tragus lobes are spaced from and positioned on generally opposite lateral sides of the speaker housing. The anti-tragus being held between the first tragus lobe and the base when the earphone is mounted to the ear and the tragus being held between the second tragus lobe and the base when the earphone is mounted to the ear.

A damped hinge module is disclosed and includes a first member, a second member and a torsion spring. The second member is rotationally movable relative to the first member between a first position and a second position. The second member being received at least in part within the first member. The torsion spring is located internally with respect to the first member and biases the second member toward the first position relative to the first member. The spring has a preload with the second member in the first position relative to the first member.

A device has a closed position and at least first and second open positions. The device includes a base. A hinge assembly is engaged with the base. The hinge assembly has first and second axes. A hinged portion is engaged with the hinge assembly. The hinged portion is individually pivotable with respect to the base about each of the first and second axes of the hinge assembly. Pivoting of the hinged portion about the first axis moves the device between the closed position and at least the first open position. Relative pivoting of the hinged portion about the second axis moves the device between the closed position and at least the second open position.

Bi-directionally operating hinge assembly

A hinge assembly includes a main member having a main cam member and a bore extending generally along an axis of rotation. A pivot member, fixed to an end of a shaft extending through the bore, includes a pivot cam member and is rotatable with respect to the main member. At least one torque element is rotatably engaged with the shaft and is substantially rotationally fixed with respect to the main member. The at least one torque element imparts a first frictional resistance to the shaft with rotation of the shaft in a first direction and a second frictional resistance to the shaft with rotation of the shaft in a second direction. The first frictional resistance is greater than the second frictional resistance. Interaction of the main cam member with the pivot cam member assists in maintaining the hinge assembly in at least first and second positions.

Self-latching hinge assembly

A hinge for controlling a pivotal rate of movement. The hinge includes a first hinge part and a second hinge part that is pivotally mounted to the first hinge part. The first hinge part movable to and between open and closed positions relative to the second hinge part. A connector extends along an axis and the first and second hinge parts are pivotally mounted around the connector on the axis. A gap is defined between at least one of the first and second hinge parts and the connector. A damping fluid is located within the gap for controlling a relative rate of movement of the first and second hinge parts between the open and closed positions.

Bistable hinge with dampening mechanism

The present invention relates to an assembly for rotatably mounting a display unit to a surface for movement between a first angular position adjacent the surface, a second angular position spaced from the surface and a range of third angular positions spaced from the second angular position. A first pintle secured to a first hinge mount is rotatably connected to a first hinge bracket. A first friction element secured to the first hinge bracket imparts a first resistive friction to the first pintle. A first detent mechanism secured to the first hinge bracket releasably secures the first pintle in the second angular position and imparts a second resistive friction to the first pintle when the first pintle is rotated through the range of third angular positions. The display unit rotates in a controlled manner from the first angular position to the second angular position due to a gravitational force.

Hinge assembly for rotatably mounting a display to a surface

A hinge assembly for rotatably coupling a first member to a second member. A cylindrical pintle is secured to the second member. A friction element secured to the first member includes first and second cylindrical walls that wrap at least substantially circumferentially around the pintle in opposing first and second directions, respectively, providing equal resistance to relative rotation therebetween in both directions. A protuberance extends radially from the pintle, into a corresponding slot in at least one of the cylindrical walls, and engages an end of the slot when the first member and second member achieve a first predefined angular relationship, the friction element storing energy from relative movement between the friction element and pintle when the protuberance is engaged at the slot end.

Spring loaded pop-up friction hinge assembly

A hinge connects a first member to a second member. The hinge includes a connector constructed of a polymeric material secured to the first member. The connector is constructed from a polymeric material and has a generally flat connector surface, and a first axis. A support is rotatably connected to the connector about the first axis. The support is constructed of a metallic material and has first and second opposing generally flat support surfaces. The first generally flat support surface is biased against the connector surface. A friction piece constructed of a polymeric material is rotatably connected to the support about the first axis and is rotatably fixed to the connector. The friction piece is biased against the second generally flat support surface. A torque element has a first end including an open portion and a closed portion. The torque element has an elongated second end extending from the closed portion. The second end of the torque element is fixedly connected to the support. A shaft extends from the second member and is rotatable about a second axis. The shaft has first and second ends, the first end of the shaft being fixedly connected to the second member. The shaft is rotatably located within the first end of the torque element. The hinge further includes a first biasing element positioned between the shaft and the support which biases the shaft to rotate about the second axis in a first direction.

Flat panel display tilt and swivel mechanism

A self-latching hinge for rotatably coupling a first member to a second member is provided. The hinge comprises a hinge housing connected to one of the first and second members. A shaft is rotatably disposed in the hinge housing, with the shaft being connected to the other of the first and second members. A cam is located on the shaft. A rotatable roller is located in the housing adjacent to the cam such that as the shaft is rotated, the cam contacts and rotates the roller. Contact between the roller and the cam at a specified angle of rotation causes interference between the roller and the cam to create an increased latching torque which must be overcome for movement of the shaft. A portable computer is also provided having a self-latching hinge located between the display housing and the processor housing.

Self-latching hinge

A hinge adapted to pivotably connect a hinged member to a device housing is provided. The hinge is adapted to maintain the hinged member in one of an open position and a closed position relative to the device housing. The hinge includes a first hinge part having an axis and a cam follower. The first hinge part is adapted to be connected to one of the hinged member and the device housing. A second hinge part is provided which is aligned with and rotatable about the axis of the first hinge part. The second hinge part has a cam surface. The cam follower on the first hinge part contacts the cam surface. The cam surface has a first position and a second position. The second hinge part is adapted to be connected to the other of the hinged member and the device housing. A spring is provided which urges the cam follower against the cam surface with a spring force. The first and second hinge parts each have an axial bore defined therethrough. An axial load bearing connector extends through the axial bores to connect first and second hinge parts such that forces generated by the spring are reacted in the axial load bearing connector. The hinge is adapted to hold the hinged member in an open position relative to the device housing when the cam follower is in the first position.

Bistable hinge mechanism

A rotatable heat transfer coupling for rotatably connecting a first object to a second object for transfer of heat from the first object to the second object is provided. The rotatable heat transfer coupling includes a first heat transfer housing for attachment to one of the first and second objects. The housing has an outside surface and an inside surface defining a generally cylindrical cavity having a longitudinal axis. A slot is provided through the housing between the surface and the generally cylindrical cavity. A cylindrical heat transfer component which is connected to the other of the first and second objects is located within the generally cylindrical cavity. A clamp is positioned on the outside surface of the housing to apply an additional force on the housing.
