This patent application discloses engineering design modifications to the VSS exit, stripper entrance and the primary cyclone diplegs that can significantly reduce the underflow of reactor riser products into the stripper and reactor vessel and thereby produce higher desired product selectivities, improved stripping efficiency and a stripper vent gas, that continuously flows through the reactor vessel, with a low coke forming potential due to its low concentration of ethylene and higher molecular weight material, that could, if desired, be recovered separately from the primary riser products.

Higher containment VSS with multi zone stripping

This procedure uses a low carbon fuel with a FCC Catalyst Heater-Fuel Gas/Catalyst Combustion Chamber. The low carbon content fuel source will minimize CO2 emissions while satisfying unit heat balance. This will further reduce coke yield and CO2 emissions while improving energy efficiency.

Using low carbon fuel with a catalyst charge heater

This device is an FCC Catalyst Charge Heater. The device uses a catalyst cooler to preheat FCC feedstocks. It can be used with or without an FCC Catalyst Heater in the regenerator to satisfy the FCC unit heat balance while maximizing liquid volume yield and reducing FCC emissions.

Catalyst charge heater

A process is disclosed for contacting feed with mixed catalyst in a secondary reactor that is incorporated into an FCC reactor. The mixed catalyst used in the secondary reactor is regenerated catalyst from a regenerator that regenerates spent catalyst from an FCC reactor that is mixed with spent catalyst from either the FCC reactor or the secondary reactor. The mixing of spent and regenerated catalyst reduces the catalyst temperature and tempers catalyst activity to inhibit both thermal and catalytic cracking reactions.

Process for upgrading FCC product with additional reactor with catalyst recycle

Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) processes are described, in which hydroprocessed hydrocarbon streams or other hydrocarbon feed streams having a low coking tendency are subjected to direct heat exchange with the FCC reactor effluent, for example in the FCC main column. The processes operate with sufficient severity such that little or no net FCC main column bottoms liquid (e.g., with a 343&#xb0; C. (650&#xb0; F.) distillation cut point) is generated. Regeneration temperatures with the representative low coking tendency feeds are beneficially increased by using an oxygen-enriched regeneration gas stream.

Direct feed/effluent heat exchange in fluid catalytic cracking

An apparatus for controlling space velocity in a fluidized catalytic conversion reactor is described. The catalyst flux rate can be adjusted during the process of the reaction to adjust the space velocity and maintain a fast fluidized flow regime therein. The set parameter in the reactor may be pressure drop which is proportional to catalyst density.

Controllable space velocity reactor

A process and apparatus are disclosed contacting hydrocarbon feed with catalyst in a reactor vessel under conditions more vigorous than bubbling bed conditions and preferably fast fluidized flow conditions. The vigorous conditions assure thorough mixing of catalyst and feed to suppress formation of dry gas and the promotion of hydrogen transfer reactions.

Process and apparatus for upgrading FCC product with additional reactor with thorough mixing

A reactor apparatus and process for contacting hydrocarbons with catalyst. The reactor apparatus comprises a plurality of tubular reactors each having a first end into which a catalyst is fed and a second end through which the catalyst and product exit the tubular reactor. A catalyst retention zone is provided to contain catalyst and feed catalyst to the tubular reactors. A separation zone is provided to separate the catalyst from products of a reaction conducted in the apparatus. A transport conduit having a first end in fluid communication with the second ends of at least two of the tubular reactors and a second end extending into the separation zone transports product and catalyst to the separation zone. A catalyst return in fluid communication with the separation zone and the catalyst retention zone returns catalyst to the catalyst retention zone.

Controllable space velocity reactor and process

Disclosed is an apparatus and process for prolonging the residence time of catalyst in a chamber for regenerating catalyst. Spent catalyst, perhaps from an FCC reactor, is introduced into a chamber of a regeneration vessel between lower and higher combustion gas distributors. The velocity of gas from the lower distributor is insufficient to entrain catalyst from the bed, and gas from the higher distributor when combined with gas rising from the lower distributor is sufficient to generate a fast fluidized flow condition. The second distributor elevates the location of the transition from turbulent bed to fast fluidized conditions.

Process and apparatus for upgrading FCC product with additional reactor with catalyst recycle

An FCC process provides ultrashort catalyst and feed contacting in an FCC riser by recovering a short contact product stream in an intermediate section of the riser. The remainder of the catalyst and gas mixture continues through the riser along a continuous flow path for further controlled cracking of the heavier adsorbed hydrocarbons and entrained hydrocarbons. Residual catalyst separated from the recovery of the short contact product stream returns to the upstream end of the riser for recycle. The section of the riser downstream of the short contact product recovery may receive additional feed to perform secondary cracking reactions. The riser arrangement greatly simplifies methods for performing ultrashort FCC feed and catalyst contacting.

FCC process with two zone short contact time reaction conduit

A process for the dual riser contacting of a primary feed and a secondary recycle feed fraction uses independent recovery of the separate streams from the riser cracking zone to improve the product yields and properties. Separate recovery segregates the upgraded recracked components from the rest of the primary cracked products. The benefits of selective of recracking are lost if the upgraded products from the recycle stream become recombined with the primary cracked product. The selectively recovered recycle feed may undergo hydroprocessing to hydrogenate, hydrocrack and/or hydrotreatment before recracking. The process can also make highly efficient use of the high residual activity in the catalyst that has contacted the secondary feed.
