A diesel fuel, diesel fuel additive concentrate and method for improving the performance of fuel injectors for a diesel engine are provided. The diesel fuel includes a major amount of middle distillate fuel; and a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl substituted dicarboxylic acid or anhydride and an amine compound or salt. The amine compound has the formula wherein R is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen and a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 1 to about 15 carbon atoms, and Ris selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 1 to about 20 carbon atoms. The reaction product contains at least one amino triazole group and is present in the fuel in an amount sufficient to improve the performance of diesel fuel injectors.

Fuel additives to maintain optimum injector performance

A method for maintaining a total base number (TBN) above about 3 mg KOH/g for a lubricant for a diesel engine for greater than about 184 days. The method includes supplying as the lubricant, a lubricant composition comprising a sulfonate detergent having a TBN ranging from about 20 to about 100 and a phenate detergent having a TBN ranging from about 200 to about 350 and an antioxidant selected from the group consisting essentially of hindered phenolic derivatives of Cto Cacids and Cto Cesters of hindered phenolic derivatives of Cto Cacids. The phenate detergent is present in an amount that is greater than 15 percent by weight of the total weight of detergents in the lubricant composition and the lubricant composition is substantially devoid of zinc dialkydithiophosphate compounds and has a sulfated ash content of less than 1.0 wt. %.

Extended drain diesel lubricant formulations

A multi-functional composition for use as an additive for fuels and lubricants. The composition includes an amination product of a hydrocarbyl substituted succinic acylating agent and a mixture containing an aliphatic polyamine and an aromatic polyamine. The molar ratio of aliphatic polyamine to aromatic polyamine in the mixture ranges from about 10:0.1 to about 0.1:10. The amination product contains at least about 0.1 molar equivalent of the polyamine mixture to 1 molar equivalent of the hydrocarbyl substituted succinic acylating agent.

Additives for lubricants and fuels

The present application is directed to a lubricant composition comprising a major amount of a base oil; and a lead corrosion inhibiting amount of a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl carbonyl compound and an amine compound chosen from guanidines, ureas and thioureas; with the proviso that the lubricant is essentially free of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate wear inhibitors, and substantially free of chlorinated paraffins and calcium mannich phenate.
