A labeling method for marking a product with invisible information. The label includes a removable laminate formed from a light transmissive layer, and a light transmissive adhesive that detachably affixes the label to a product. The label includes an invisible marker that contains information, detectable by light of selected wavelength. The amount of marker selected is sufficient to allow information in the marker to be detected only when the laminate is affixed over a surface with a selected optical background. The label laminate is removed from the surface of the product and affixed to a surface having the selected optical background and is exposed to light that renders the information in the marker detectable. The method allows covert information in the label laminate to be reliably detected and read with the use of minimal quantities of marker material.

Security label laminate and method of labeling

A camera has a body and a film holder having an exposure frame surrounding an exposure opening. A taking lens system is mounted to the body. The taking lens system has an optical axis. The taking lens system transmits a scene image through the exposure opening. A screener is mounted to the body. The screener is movable, relative to the exposure frame, between a primary position and a plurality of different secondary positions. The screener shadows the exposure frame differently in each secondary position. The exposure frame is unshaded when the screener is in the primary position.

Cameras, methods, and systems with partial-shading encodements

A method keeps photographic film current. In the method, a logical memory unit is allocated to the photographic film unit. The logical memory unit is remote from the film unit. A plurality of photofinishing parameters for the film unit are designated. The logical memory unit is maintained for a time period sufficient to cause aging. The photofinishing parameters are updated counteractive to the aging and photofinishing can then be performed using the updated parameters for the film unit.

Method for keeping photographic film current

A multiple exposure-format camera comprises an exposure opening having an aspect ratio, and a flexible curtain-mask provided with a plurality of mask openings having respective aspect ratios that are different than the aspect ratio of the exposure opening. The curtain-mask is supported for movement from one storage chamber to another storage chamber to successively locate the mask openings at the exposure opening to change the aspect ratio for the exposure opening. At least one of the storage chambers is configured to receive a film container to store a portion of the curtain-mask about the film container. This allows the camera to be made relatively compact.

Multiple exposure-format camera

A recyclable, single use photographic film package and camera comprising a light-tight camera mechanism having a frame forming exposure gate, a roll of unexposed film withdrawn from its cartridge and pre-wound on a film takeup spool disposed on one side of the exposure gate, the cartridge disposed on the other side of the exposure gate, and an externally operable film winding thumbwheel for winding the filmstrip through the exposure gate and back into its cartridge as the film is exposed frame by frame. When all frames are exposed, the exposed film is removed and processed, and the package is recycled by substituting a fresh film cartridge and new packaging for resale. To prevent unauthorized reuse of the camera mechanism by refilling it with other than genuine film, a component of the takeup spool is intentionally damaged upon winding the last image frame into the film cartridge. The damaged takeup spool is not usable to pre-wind the substitute filmstrip onto it and must be replaced by an authorized recycler of the film package.

Single use photographic film package and camera

In a photographic camera, a neutral density or other light reducing filter in the viewfinder obscures details of a subject viewed through the viewfinder in low light to provide a warning that ambient light is insufficient for a proper daylight exposure. The filter has little or no light reducing capability at a central portion and along a peripheral portion to serve as aiming and framing features, respectively.
