A method and assembly for protecting a device connected to a wiring harness is disclosed. The assembly includes a protective tubular shield and a positioning device, with the protective tubular shield having a bore for receiving the device at least partially therein. An elongated wiring harness extends from the device being protected and through the bore of the protective tubular shield. The positioning device is formed having a band and at least one flexible, resilient finger extending radially inwardly from the band. At least one of the fingers forcibly engages the wiring harness to releasably maintain the positioning device and the protective tubular shield in a protection position along the wiring harness at least partially surrounding the device being protected.

The sleeve includes an elongate wall extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite ends with lengthwise extending edges extending along the longitudinal axis between the opposite ends. The wall includes a textile layer, a polymeric film layer fixed to the inner textile layer and a metal foil layer fixed to the polymeric film layer. A protective braided sleeve and method of construction are provided. The braided sleeve includes a seamless, circumferentially continuous, tubular wall extending lengthwise along a central longitudinal axis between opposite ends. The wall includes a plurality of yarns braided with one another. At least one of the yarns is activatable to lock the plurality of yarns in fixed relation with one another to inhibit the expansion of the wall.

An insulative nonwoven battery cover and method of construction thereof is provided. The cover includes a plurality of nonwoven sections bonded together to form a desired structural configuration. The nonwoven sections are mats of heat-settable textile fibers and green materials including natural fibers, recycled materials and/or waste stream materials. The mats are formed having a bonded seam of the melted heat-settable textile fibers such that the cover is provided with a circumferentially continuous wall.

A fabric sleeve for protecting elongate members against at least one of EMI, RFI or ESD and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve includes a wall extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite ends. The wall is formed from a plurality of filaments interlaced with one another, with at least one of the filaments being provided as a continuous strand of conductive wire and at least some of the filaments being provided as heat-fusible nonconductive filaments. The heat-fusible nonconductive filaments abut the continuous strand of conductive wire at a plurality of bond joints. A textile fabric, sleeve formed therefrom, and methods of construction thereof are provided. The fabric forms an elongate wall constructed from lengthwise extending warp yarns woven with widthwise extending weft yarns. At least some of the warp yarns are electrically conductive and have a first diameter. The weft yarns have a second diameter that is at least 25 percent less than the first diameter of the warp yarns. As such, the conductive warp yarns are brought into closer proximity with one another than if the weft yarns were the same diameter as the warp yarns. Accordingly, the ability of the fabric and sleeve formed therewith to provide shielding protection against EMI is enhanced.

EMI shielding textile fabric, wrappable sleeve constructed therefrom and method of construction thereof

A braided protective sleeve and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve has a wall extending along a longitudinal axis of the sleeve. The wall includes a plurality of braided yarns forming inner and outer surfaces of the sleeve. The inner surface bounds an internal cavity and the outer surface is exposed to the surrounding environment. The yarns are braided with one another in a X/Y braid pattern with X and Y being different numerical values from one another. The numerical values of X and Y can be selected as desired to provide the sleeve with the enhanced physical performance characteristics desired. A plurality of yarns extending substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis can be interlaced with the braided yarns. The interlaced yarns can be exposed to the internal cavity and concealed from the environment; exposed to the environment and concealed from the internal cavity, or both.

A method and assembly for protecting a device connected to a wiring harness is disclosed. The assembly includes a protective shield having a bore for receiving the device and a positioning device. An elongated wiring harness extends from the device being protected and through the bore of the protective shield. The positioning device is formed having a band that surrounds a central space. At least one flexible, resilient finger extends radially inwardly from the band into the central space. At least one of the fingers forcibly engages the harness sleeve to maintain the positioning device and the protective shield in a predetermined protection position along the harness sleeve at least partially surrounding the device being protected.

A multilayer textile sleeve and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve has an outer layer constructed at least in part from a first warp yarn extending along a length direction of the sleeve and a weft yarn extending transversely to the length direction. The sleeve further includes an inner layer constructed at least in part from a second warp yarn extending along the length direction and a weft yarn extending transversely to the length direction, with the second warp yarn being a different type of yarn than the first warp yarn. The outer layer and inner layer are connected to one another by interlinking the weft yarn of the outer layer with at least some of the second warp yarns of the inner layer and by interlinking the weft yarn of the inner layer with at least some of the first warp yarns of the outer layer.
