Various compositions and methods are provided to alleviate one or more symptoms associated with hyposalivation and/or xerostomia. Preferred compositions and methods employ one or more plant pulp products and/or a proanthocyanidin at a concentration effective to reduce or eliminate the symptoms. Especially preferred product components are isolated from a fruit and/or seed (e.g., grape, cranberry, blue berry, black berry, etc.), and where a second component is is preferably a freeze-dried pulp from a citrus fruit (e.g., lemon, orange, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, mandarin orange, ugli fruit, etc.) not containing peel or juice therein.

Compositions and methods for alleviating hyposalivation and for providing oral comfort

A dental prophy angle adapted to be engaged with a dental handpiece having a nose cone and a low-speed rotary driver within the nose cone. The prophy angle has a proximal end adapted to releasably engage with said nose cone, and a distal end having an implement-mounting member rotatable therein. A flexible shaft extends from the nose cone through the angle to the mounting member and has a diameter which is substantially smaller than the interior wall of the prophy angle. The shaft has a coupling member with a free axial end adapted to engage the rotary driver in the nose cone to be rotated upon rotation of said driver, and an opposite captive end connected to said shaft with a shoulder surrounding said flexible shaft and facing away from said free end to confront an abutment limiting axial displacement of said coupling member within the prophy angle. The flexible shaft is a steel cable comprising a plurality of multi-stranded steel cords twisted together to form a cable and encased in a sheath of polytetrafluoroethylene.

Direct drive dental prophy angle

An endoscopic device includes an endoscopic tube for insertion into a cavity to be viewed; an optical system including a video camera and illuminating means for viewing the cavity, the image on the screen being a noninverted image; and a removable, rigid, sterilizable or discardable sheath completely enclosing the endoscopic tube and the illuminating means to prevent their exposure to the cavity environment.

Endoscopic device

An inta-oral device for viewing the oral cavity comprises a handle having a tube extending therefrom for insertion into the oral cavity to be viewed; an optical system within the tube; a video camera within the handle and illuminating means for illuminating the cavity; and a removable, rigid, sterilizable sheath completely enclosing the tube and illuminating means to prevent their exposure to the oral cavity. The optical means provides a non-reversed image to appear on a video screen.

Endoscopic device for intraoral use

An automatically retractable pivotal step assembly is used on scaffolding and storage structures, particularly in a warehouse environment. The automatic retractability feature is particularly important in keeping the step assembly from being struck and broken off by loading equipment, or causing injury to workers or damage to material being transported by loading equipment. The step assembly is pivotally secured to a stanchion member of the storage rack structure at a selected height to permit a warehouse worker to ascend to a second or higher level of the storage structure and then be automatically returned and stored in a retracted position behind the stanchion member when not being used. Several step assemblies may be vertically aligned on the stanchion in combination at increasing heights to permit access to multiple levels of the structure.
