Disclosed herein are tiles, coatings, and related methods that provide both high cleanability and high slip resistance. The coating can be a surface coating with a unique chemical make-up. The surface coating can also have particles suspended within it. During a firing process, the coating and particles can settle in such a manner that the surface structure of the coating, and thus the surface structure of the tile, is both easy to clean and slip-resistant.

The various embodiments of the present invention are directed to wear resistant coatings, tiles having the wear resistant coatings disposed thereon, and to methods of making the coatings and tiles. A wear resistant coating generally includes a strontium aluminosilicate glass-ceramic composition that is formed from a glaze. The glaze can include a crystallizing component, which itself can include strontium, aluminum, and silicon, but also comprises less than about 2 weight percent each of lithium, boron, barium, sodium, iron, titanium, zirconium, and carbon, based on a total weight of the crystallizing component.

Disclosed are cements for ceramic honeycomb bodies. Such cements can be applied to a fired ceramic honeycomb body then fired, or can be applied to an unfired (green) honeycomb body and co-fired with the green honeycomb body. The cement can also be used to plug one or more cells in a honeycomb body, wherein the cement can be inserted into a green or a fired ceramic honeycomb body, then fired. Also disclosed are methods of manufacturing a ceramic honeycomb article with the cement.
