A retractable screen door for drawing a flexible screen panel across an opening, including a flexible screen wound around a spring biased take-up shaft, and guide rails for guiding the screen as it is moved across the opening. A unique latch mechanism is disclosed, said latch mechanism being located in the guide rails. Further, the screen may include an adjustable gear assembly for changing the tension on the spring. The retractable screen is optionally designed to have the appearance of a common door casing.

Retractable screen door

A penetration resistant doorlight including a frame and a laminated window assembly. The window assembly includes a glass panel laminated to a security film such as P.E.T. The security film extends beyond the perimeter edge of the window assembly to overlap the door. The film is secured both to the frame and to the door. In the preferred embodiment, a reinforcing insert is included in the frame and overlaps all of the window, the door, and the film.

A doorlight shade assembly including a housing, a roller shade within the housing, and a pair of mounting clips. The clips each include a secured leg and a supporting leg perpendicular to each other. The secured leg of each clip fits between the door and a doorlight frame. The supporting leg of the clips receive and support the housing.

A blind assembly having a frame entrapping a set of blinds. The frame has an integral track upon which tilt and height control mechanisms are slidably mounted. A height control mechanism is slidably mounted on a vertical portion of the track, and the blinds are raised and lowered by movement of this mechanism. The mechanism is connected to a lift cord retained within the track and hidden from the user's view. This mechanism further includes a spring lock to engage the track and lock the mechanism, and thus the blinds, in a stationary position. A tilt control mechanism is slidably mounted on a horizontal portion of the track, and the blinds are opened and closed by movement of this mechanism. The blinds are protected behind a pane of glass or clear plastic.

Adjustable blind assembly

A tubular skylight having an improved dome improving the efficiency of the skylight and reducing the shadows cast by the skylight. The dome includes a substantially vertical rear face having an integral prism in a portion of its outer surface, and the rear face is offset inwardly from the perimeter of the reflective tube, thus allowing light to escape from the bottom edge of the rear face downwardly into the reflective tube. The integral prism does not extend to the top or front face of the dome, thus reducing the prevalence of shadows created by light rays entering the dome through the prism.

A penetration resistant door light adapted to withstand impact from flying debris as might occur in a hurricane or other high-wind condition. The door light includes inner and outer frame halves that support a panel assembly within an opening formed in a door. The panel assembly includes a sheet or layer of transparent impact resistant material such as a polycarbonate or laminated glass. The impact resistant sheet is structurally secured to at least screws extend through all of the inner frame half, the impact resistant sheet, and the outer frame half. In an alternative embodiment, a structural adhesive intersecures the impact resistant sheet and the outer frame half.

The dome includes an integral prism in a portion of its outer surface to reflect light downwardly through the skylight. The dome is hemispherical, and the prism includes a plurality of grooves extending along great circles that pass through the apex of the dome. The prism covers only an angular segment of the hemispherical dome; and the grooves stop short of the apex of the dome.

A skylight with a modular shaft. The skylight includes a curb surrounding an opening formed in a roof. The curb defines a downwardly opening channel with at least one serrated wall to receive the modular shaft. The modular shaft extends from the curb to an opening formed in a ceiling and includes a number of panels secured to one another by a number of corner connections. A hook with at least one serrated wall is mounted to each of the panels. The hooks fit into the channel such that the serrated walls contact one another and secure the shaft to the curb by a ratcheting effect.
