A device () controllable by a short-range point-to-point radio frequency signal, e.g. a Bluetooth signal from a mobile device (), is configured to receive, e.g. from the mobile device and neighboring lighting devices (-), one or more signals which comprise the short-range point-to-point radio frequency signal, determine changes in received radio frequency signals from the one or more signals, detect presence, e.g. of a resident (), based on the changes, determine a control command from the short-range point-to-point radio frequency signal, and execute the control command in dependence on the presence being detected.

Executing control command in dependence on presence being detected

The invention relates to powering one or more devices, in particular in the context of Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). In an embodiment of the invention, it is proposed to equip each node () with a PD interface () that can signal multiples of the standard defined unity load (25 k&#x3a9; with tolerances) during the detection process and increase the load during a sequence of detection attempts. In that way, several nodes () can share one PSE outlet and determine the number of neighboring loads (). At the same time, each node () will offer full functionality during 'normal' stand-alone wiring. This powering concept can be combined with full or limited data communication capabilities.

Device and method for parallel powering

Provided is a lighting device including a light source for emitting light, a sensor configured to detect infrared radiation from a plurality of locations along a path in the field of view of the sensor, at least one attenuation element arranged between at least one location of the plurality of locations and the sensor so as to attenuate or block infrared radiation emitted from the at least one location before it reaches the sensor, and a controller. The at least one attenuation element is further arranged in relation to the field of view of the sensor for the signal output from the sensor to indicate, when an occupant is moving along the path, a direction of movement of the occupant along the path. The controller is arranged to control the light source based on the direction of movement of the occupant, and a cover plate is arranged between the at least one location of said plurality of locations and the sensor, and also arranged between the at least one location and the light source, wherein the cover plate is transparent or translucent to said visible light, wherein the at least one attenuation element forms part of the cover plate, and wherein outside, or away from, the attenuation element, the cover plate is at least partly transparent to infrared radiation.

Lighting device with motion sensor

The present invention relates to Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) systems. The invention proposes to use a classification event to communicate from the PD () to the PSE (). A sensor () may determine a sensor value, shut down the PoE connection, and reconnect so that the power up cycle with the PSE () will start. The sensor () provides a PoE resistance related to a class 0, 3 where the class relates to the sensor value (e.g., class 0=presence detected; class 1=no presence detected). This procedure may be repeated (e.g. continuously, every minute or whenever the sensor value changes such that the PSE () needs to be informed) and if needed multiple cycles can be used to increase the length of the message communicated.

Powered device, power sourcing equipment device, power-over-ethernet network system, and methods, for transmitting information through classification signals

A capacitive contactless powering system () comprises a pair of receiver electrodes () connected to a load () through a first inductor (), wherein the first inductor is coupled to the load to resonate the system; a pair of transmitter electrodes () connected to a driver (); an insulating layer () having a first side and a second side opposite each other, wherein the pair of transmitter electrodes are coupled to the first side of the insulating layer and the pair of receiver electrodes are decoupled from the second side of the insulating layer, such that a capacitive impedance is formed between the pair of transmitter electrodes and the pair of receiver electrodes, wherein a power signal generated by the driver is wirelessly transferred from the pair of transmitter electrodes to the pair of receiver electrodes to power the load when a frequency of the power signal matches a series-resonance frequency of the first inductor and the capacitive impedance.

Capacitive contactless powering system

The invention relates to a PoE lighting system () comprising an emergency lighting device (), a first PSE device () and a second PSE device (). The first PSE device is adapted to provide power based on a) first power received from a first power source or b) second power received from a second PSE device via a first fire-resistant PoE connection () in case of emergency. The first PSE device is adapted to detect whether power is received from the second PSE device and to provide power to the emergency lighting device based on the second power via a second fire-resistant PoE connection (), if it has been detected that power has been received from the second PSE device. This can allow for a provision of PoE emergency lighting in case of fire, even if a communication via the fire-resistant PoE connections is not possible anymore.

In one embodiment, the receiver electrodes include a first conductive plate () connected to a first sphere-shaped hinge (), wherein the first sphere-shaped hinge is coupled to a first receiver electrode (); and a second conductive plate () connected to a second sphere-shaped hinge (), wherein the second sphere-shaped hinge is coupled to a second receiver electrode (), the second receiver electrode being connected to an inductor of the capacitive power transfer system and the first receiver electrode being connected to the load, the inductor being connected to the load to resonate the capacitive power transfer system.

A direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) wireless converter apparatus () for supplying power to a load connected in a capacitive power transfer system. A transparent capacitive powering system () is disclosed.
