In at least one embodiment, an audio system is provided. At least one controller is programmed to encode a first and second audio component and to generate a first and a second encoded audio component. The at least one controller is programmed to apply a first gain to at least one of the first encoded audio component and the second encoded audio component to generate at least one of a first and second increased encoded audio component and to decode the at least one of the first and the second increased encoded audio component to generate at least one of a first and second decoded audio component. The at least one controller is further programmed to amplitude pan the at least one of the first and the second decoded audio component to increase a stereo width for an audio output transmitted by a first loudspeaker and a second loudspeaker.

One embodiment of the present disclosure sets forth a method for managing data received over a network. The method includes receiving at a first time a data packet from a node of the network, selecting a delay time associated with the node, where the delay time comprises an average delay time associated with previous communications involving the node, and processing data included in the data packet at a second time, where the second time is equal to the sum of the first time and the delay time.

Managing data in a static network prior to initialization

An apparatus used to communicate with a plurality of audio/video (A/V) end nodes in an Audio Video Bridging (AVB) network. The apparatus may include a first A/V end node. The first A/V end node may be configured to transmit a clock reference stream including a plurality of timestamps to a plurality of A/V end nodes. The plurality of A/V end nodes may transmit a media stream including a plurality of video samples and a plurality of audio samples to one another. The media stream may be separate from the plurality of timestamps. The plurality of A/V end nodes may be arranged to syntonize or synchronize the plurality of video samples and the plurality of audio samples with one another for playback in response to the plurality of timestamps.
