A fastener driving tool includes a driver having a driver shaft extending therefrom, a first extension member operably connected to the driver and a second extension member operably connected to the first extension member. The tool is for use on roof deck panels. The second extension member slidingly engages the first extension member between a loading position and a driving position. A bearing assembly operably connects the first and second extension members. The bearing assembly is formed from a non-metallic, low-friction material. A portion of the bearing assembly is mounted to one of the first and second extension members for sliding engagement with the other extension member and is disposed to prevent direct contact of the first and second extension members with one another. A fastener receiving member is mounted to the second extension member for receiving fasteners when in the loading position and for supporting and releasing the fasteners when in the driving position. The fastener receiving member includes a cradle having a main body portion and a pair of legs extending from the main body portion diverging downwardly and outwardly. The cradle is configured for positioning on the roof panel, straddling raised portions of the panel for aligning the tool therealong.

Fastener driving tool having improved bearing and fastener guide assemblies

A wall anchor for use in a friable material, composed of a generally cylindrical body having a flanged end, a central portion, and a drill end. The drill end has a generally flat blade which includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion has a first angled cutting edge and a first side cutting edge, and the second portion has a second angled cutting edge and a second side cutting edge. These portions are formed on a common line and are offset relative to each other along a plane passing through a diameter of the cylindrical body, and these portions together form a point. The central portion and the flange end have a combined axial length, and the drill end has an axial length which is shorter than that of the central portion and the flange end.

A fastener system that includes a fastener with a longitudinally extending shank with a head on one end thereof, where the head has a first pattern formed thereon, and a cap that is configured and arranged to be seated upon the head, where the cap includes a second pattern formed on an interior surface thereof. This second pattern is adapted to cooperate with the first pattern, whereby rotational forces applied to the cap are transferred to the fastener via contact between the first and second patterns. Furthermore, the second pattern is defined by a closed figure that includes a plurality of outermost circumferential points located along a circle, with adjacent points being separated by a pattern distance that is greater than the length of an imaginary straight line drawn directly between the adjacent points. Several different configurations are available for the second pattern. Some examples of such configurations include generally star-shaped patterns, generally cross-shaped patterns, and other patterns also formed by a plurality of radially extending branches. Additionally, the second pattern may also be defined by a plurality of closed figures, such as a combination of generally pie-shaped components.

Fastener system including a fastener and a cap

A stress plate for use with a threaded fastener for securing relatively soft insulation to a solid base, such as in a roofing environment, includes a generally planar main body, and a hole on the main body configured for receiving the fastener. The plate is configured so that the hole is angled relative to a vertical axis of the plate for accommodating threads of the fastener so that the fastener is maintained in a generally perpendicular orientation to the main body upon the engagement of the threads of the fastener in the hole. In the preferred embodiment, the threads of the fastener have a helix angle, and the hole, which is formed in a conical depression in the plate, is angled at the same angle as the threads of the fastener.

A protective seam plate retains a flexible membrane of a roofing system in place without tearing the flexible membrane during high winds. The protective seam plate comprises a seam plate having a web with a periphery and top and bottom surfaces. A protective ring surrounds the seam plate web periphery and overlies the web top and bottom surfaces around and adjacent the web periphery. The protective ring has a smooth continuous surface that is contacted by the flexible membrane when the flexible membrane lifts off the roof during high winds. The protective seam plate may be manufactured by heat shrinking a tube of heat shrinkable material surrounding the periphery of the seam plate web. Alternately, the protective ring may be an L-shaped ring that is assembled to the seam plate by bending a leg over the web top surface. The protective seam plate may also be fabricated by bending a flange that is integral with the seam plate web such that the flange partially overlies the web top surface. In that design, the web bottom surface and the flange bottom surface cooperate to form the smooth continuous surface presented to the flexible membrane.
