An identifier for first set of display content on a vehicle display is input to a statistical model that outputs a plurality of probabilities that a user input will select each of a plurality of second set of display contents for display after the first set of display content is displayed. A first probability is identified for a predicted set of display content that is a highest probability in the plurality of probabilities. The plurality of probabilities are provided to at least one of an optimization model and a neural network upon determining an accuracy of the statistical model is below a threshold. Upon receiving, from the at least one of the optimization model and the neural network, a second probability for the predicted set of display content, the display content is selected based on the first and second probabilities. The vehicle display is updated based on the selected set of display content.

Vehicle display

A computing device and method of controlling access to a computing device. An application to be used when the computing device is in a locked state is selected, wherein in the locked state, only use of the selected application is permitted. The computing device enters the locked state. Use of the selected application without unlocking the computing device is allowed.

Secure device sharing

A computing device and method of controlling access to a computing device. A software lock request is received via an input device of the computing device. In response to receiving the software lock request, a picklist of a plurality of applications executable on the computing device is displayed on a display of the computing device. A selection of one or more impermissible applications from the plurality of applications executable on the computing device or one or more permitted applications from the plurality of applications executable on the computing device is received receiving via the input device. A locked state is entered. In the locked state, access is not permitted to the one or more impermissible applications and access is permitted to other applications of the plurality of applications executable on the computing device.

A vehicle includes a first controller; and a second controller, wherein the first controller is programmed to responsive to detecting a failure, generate a failure event, identify the second controller as related to the failure event, identify logs of the first controller and second controller as related to the failure event, collect logs of the first controller, and transmit a failure message including a request for the logs of the second controller to the second controller, and the second controller is programmed to responsive to receiving the failure message from the first controller, collect logs of the second controller as requested, and send a request for a security token to a server, and responsive to receiving the security token from the server, upload the logs of the second controller, as collected using the security token, to the server, and send the security token to the first controller.

Secure log capture

A device and method for placing the device in a locked state having an associated set of permitted tasks so as to permit the device owner to share the device with others but maintain security over aspects of the device. A task change request is evaluated to determine whether the requested task is permitted and, if so, the requested task is allowed; if not, then an authorization process is invoked to prompt the user to input authorization data. Upon verification of the authorization data, the device may be unlocked and the requested change implemented. The permitted tasks may designate specific applications, specific operations or functions within applications or at the operating system level, one or more currently open windows, and other levels of granularity.

A system includes a processor configured to store a buffer of accelerable broadcast content. The processor is also configured to determine that a predefined condition exists, defining a situation where content acceleration is appropriate. The processor is further configured to determine a broadcast content playback point where content should be accelerated and playback a predetermined portion of the buffer at a predefined accelerated pace, responsive to reaching the playback point.

Method and apparatus for advanced audio/video stream management to increase advertising opportunity

An indoor positioning system and method that correlates map locations to respective wireless access point (AP) fingerprints, and wherein each wireless AP fingerprint is a plurality of wireless AP signal measurements associated with the correlated map location. The method includes receiving position-inference data associated with a user; determining a probable location inside the building based on the position-inference data; receiving wireless AP signal measurements detected by a wireless device associated with the user; associating the probable location with the wireless device based on the association between the position-inference data and the user of the wireless device; and updating the wireless AP fingerprint correlated to the probable location using the received wireless AP signal measurements. The method and system use crowd-sourcing to build and refine the wireless AP fingerprints.

Indoor positioning systems and wireless fingerprints

A method and system for reducing protocol headers sent over a wireless network are described. The method includes receiving at a proxy server, from a mobile device, a protocol request device addressed to a remote system. The protocol request including defined headers and an enable-caching indicator. The proxy server stores at least one of the defined headers as cached headers and sends a protocol response to the mobile device identifying the cached headers. Subsequent requests from the mobile device are formatted as abridged requests that exclude the cached headers, thereby reducing the data transmitted. The proxy server adds the cached headers to the abridged requests before forwarding them as unabridged requests to the remote system.

Method and system for reducing transmission of redundant data

Methods and systems for enabling activation of a wireless communication device to operate with a server on a wireless communication network. An activation request to establish a wireless communication service relationship between the device and the server is pushed from the server to the device. After the device verifies the server, a mutually authenticated communication session is established between the device and the server for activation of the device on the server.

Methods and systems for server-initiated activation of device for operation with server

A method of determining room occupancy of a room in a facility having an indoor positioning system with wireless access point fingerprints each correlated to a location in the facility. The method may include receiving a request from a computing device for a room occupancy assessment associated with the room. It may further include obtaining location data that correlates to the location of one or more people from the indoor positioning system and determining from the location data associated with the room whether the room is occupied. The determination of whether the room is occupied is then sent to the computing device.

A method of determining room occupancy of a room in a facility having an indoor positioning system with wireless access point fingerprints each correlated to a location in the facility. The method may include receiving a request from a computing device for a room occupancy assessment associated with the room. It may further include obtaining location data that correlates to the locations of wireless devices associated with one or more people from the indoor positioning system and determining based on the location data whether the room is occupied. The determination of whether the room is occupied is then sent to the computing device.

According to embodiments described in the specification, a method, system and apparatus for generating notification signals are provided. The method includes storing an identifier of a slave device in a memory of a master device; detecting, at a processor interconnected with the memory, a notification message via execution of a notification application; in response to detecting the notification message, retrieving the slave device identifier and transmitting an instruction message to the slave device, the instruction message including an identifier of the notification message and an alert parameter; and generating an alert via an output device interconnected with the processor according to the alert parameter.

Method, system and communication device for generating notification signals

Songs titles and song artists or other content received on an HD-radio are cross-referenced to one or more geographic locations where they were heard on the radio by identifying a song title or artist in the HD radio data stream and instructing a global positioning system navigation unit to contemporaneously determine its location. The determined location and song title and/or artist are cross-referenced to each other in a list or database. A touch-sensitive display device is configured to display the location or portion of a route where a listened-to song was heard. Song titles and/or artists can be determined by tactile selection of portions of a route displayed on the map.

Method to geo-tag streaming music

Mobile device usage may be monitored and restricted by pushing enabling/disabling events from an administrator the device. The events impose a certain set of rules that can 'lock' certain features provided by the device, according to permissions and pre-established policies, for a certain period of time. Such restricted periods may coincide with meetings or other events in which distractions should be kept to a minimum or be during regular, predetermined time periods. Preferably, the rules include conditional locks that allow a user to use a feature a reasonable number of times before the lock is activated to place the onus on the user for minimizing such distractions, while enabling the user to maintain access to such a vital communication tool. Cancel packets may also be used to not only control but to monitor the application of the rule sets and when certain conditions are breaches, which provides an employer with sufficient information to use in auditing device usage or in reprimanding users for misuse of a privilege such as the use of mobile data communications devices.

System and method for controlling device usage

A method and device to simplify message reply composition on a communications device, using a partially transparent overlay to allow a user to freely scroll and move around to other sections of a message or message chain while still being able to see and edit the reply being composed. When the reply is scrolled such that the composition field is not visible on the display screen, the device displays the overlay when the user enters text or on user request. The user may then type text into the overlay while viewing the underlying portion of the reply message, such as previous messages in the string.
