An ice maker includes an ice making unit comprising an evaporator connected to a refrigeration system, an ice holding bin, a sump, a pump, a drain valve, an ozonated water source, and a controller. The controller activates the ozonated water source supplying a first volume of ozonated water to the sump, thereafter activates the pump to circulate the first volume of ozonated water from the sump to the ice making unit, once a predetermined sterilization time has been reached, the controller turns off the pump and drains the first volume of ozonated water from the sump. The controller initiates an ice making mode, and activates the ozonated water source to supply a second volume of ozonated water to the sump, thereafter activates the pump to circulate the second volume of ozonated water from the sump to the ice making unit forming ozonated ice on the evaporator, and initiates an ice harvest mode to remove the ozonated ice from the evaporator and delivers it to the ice holding bin.

Method and apparatus for sanitation of ice production and dispensing system

A method of making ice in an ice making machine comprising: (a) compressing vaporized refrigerant, cooling the compressed refrigerant to condense it into a liquid, feeding the condensed refrigerant through an expansion device and vaporizing the refrigerant in an evaporator to create freezing temperatures in an ice-forming mold to freeze water into ice in the shape of mold cavities during an ice making mode; (b) heating the ice making mold to release the ice therefrom in a harvest mode by separating vaporous and liquid refrigerant within a receiver interconnected between the condenser and the expansion device and feeding vapor from the receiver to the evaporator, wherein the ice-forming mold, evaporator and receiver are disposed in an ice machine unit, and the compressor and condenser are disposed in a condensing unit; (c) determining if the ice making machine is on and if an ice bin switch is closed: if the ice machine is on and the bin switch is closed, then check a low pressure switch: if the low pressure switch is not closed, then return to step (i) above; or if the low pressure switch is closed, then set a time delay for a predetermined time delay; and (d) determining if the predetermined time delay has elapsed: if the predetermined time delay has not elapsed, then return to step (d); or if the predetermined time delay has elapsed, then initiate another the ice making mode.

A system and methods for sanitation of ice storage equipment. An ozone generator provides a sanitizing agent comprised of a mixture of ambient air and ozone. The sanitizing agent is circulated through an ice storage bin. The sanitizing agent cleanses interior surfaces of the ice storage bin and also cleanses surfaces of an ice dispenser that dispenses ice from the ice storage bin.

Method and system for the continuous or semi-continuous production of flavored ice

An ice-making machine having an ice-forming surface upon which ice is formed, a refrigeration system including a microchannel evaporator that cools the ice-forming surface, and a water-supply system. The microchannel evaporator includes a microchannel tube that facilitates a distributed cooling effect in a contact area between the microchannel tube and the ice-forming surface. In some embodiments, the microchannel tube includes a series of recessed portions that define insulated regions and divide the tube into non-insulated regions. The insulated and non-insulated regions can be dimensioned to form individual ice cubes on the ice-forming surface. In other embodiments, spaces between microchannel tubes and/or spaces between the ice-forming surface and microchannel tubes can form insulated regions at least partially defining the size and shape of ice produced by the ice-making machine. The ice-forming surface can be attached to the microchannel tubes by adhesive and/or cohesive bonding material (such as glue, epoxy, or other adhesive).
