The described technology is generally directed towards adaptively selecting a repetition level in wireless communications, based on events to improve coverage range via the repetition level while not unnecessarily reducing throughput. One such event can include a current signal-to-noise-ratio, e.g., as reported in a channel quality indicator report from a user equipment. Another such event can comprise a number of consecutive hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgments or negative acknowledgments (HARQ ACKS/NACKS), in which consecutive ACKs tend to indicate good signal quality, while consecutive NACKs tend to indicate poor signal quality. A combination of channel quality indicator-based adaptive repetition level and HARQ ACK/NACK-based adaptive repetition level can be employed.

The method can further include generating, by the device using the subscriber identity module application, parameter information that identifies the machine-type communication related parameters of the device based on the identifying, and sending, by the device, the parameter information to a network server device of a wireless communication network based on the generating.

A method and apparatus for modification of a reporting interval are disclosed. For example, the method determines whether a modification of a reporting interval of a machine type communication device is to be performed, when the machine type communication device is a device of a customer for which the modification of the reporting interval is provided, identifies a reporting interval for the machine type communication device when the modification of the reporting interval of the machine type communication device is to be performed, and sends the reporting interval that is identified to the machine type communication device in a message.

A system for efficiently transmitting requests for data access from a wireless communications device to a radio access network. Requests for data access may be aggregated to more efficiently use radio resources. Aggregated requests may not be transmitted until a total number of requests or size of aggregated requests exceeds a threshold. Regardless of aggregation, requests may be stored until a timer expires, and then transmitted to the radio access network. Request priority, environmental data, and device data may be taken into account in determining when to transmit requests for data access.

Efficient processing of radio resource requests

Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for setting voice and data priority using a registration message. According to some embodiments, a processor that executes a voice and data priority application can determine a class of device associated with a communication device, a capability indicator that indicates if the communication device is capable of transmitting data communications and if the communication device is capable of transmitting voice communications, and a priority indicator that indicates if data communications are to be prioritized over voice communications for the communication device. The processor also can generate a voice and data priority indicator that indicates the class of device, the capability indicator, and the priority indicator, and save the voice and data priority indicator at a memory associated with the communication device. The communication device can be configured to generate a registration message that includes the voice and data indicator when registering with a network.
