A recorder creating an encoded data stream comprising an encoded video stream and an encoded graphics stream, the video stream comprising an encoded 3D (three-dimensional) video object, and the graphics stream comprising at least a first encoded segment and a second encoded segment, the first segment comprising 2D (two-dimensional) graphics data and the second segment comprises a depth map for the 2D graphics data. A graphics decoder decoding the first and second encoded segments to form respective first and second decoded sequences. Outputting the first and second decoded sequences separately to a 3D display unit. The 3D display unit combining the first and second decoded sequences and rendering the combination as a 3D graphics image overlaying a 3D video image simultaneously rendered from a decoded 3D video object decoded from the encoded 3D video object.

Creating three dimensional graphics data

The present invention relates to a method in a graphics system for creating a graphics stream allowing to form a three-dimensional graphics data, the graphics stream consisting of segments. The graphics stream is divided into at least a first segment and a second segment, the first segment comprises two-dimensional graphics data and the second segment comprises a depth map for the two-dimensional graphics data. The graphics stream can be decoded by a decoder to form two data sequences to be output separately to a display device for rendering a three-dimensional subtitle or graphics image for a three-dimensional video image.

The present invention relates to a method and a system for performing digital rights management. The idea of the invention is that a master right associated with a content is stored at a first authorized device (). An authorized device is a device which can be considered trusted and performs actions with contents according to the associated rights. These devices enforce rights that are bound to contents, and perform the security tasks of the DRM system employed. A subright is derived from the master right, which subright controls what type of access a second authorized device () is given to the associated content. Finally, the subright is distributed to the second authorized device, given that the second device complies with predetermined distribution criteria associated with the master right. The device distributing the subright authenticates the device which is to receive the subright, ensuring that the second device can be trusted.
