A structural frame is provided. The structural frame includes a bottom surface, first and second cylinder block sidewall engaging surfaces, the first and second cylinder block sidewall engaging surfaces positioned above the bottom surface at a height that is above a centerline of a crankshaft support included in a cylinder block when the structural frame is coupled to the cylinder block.

Methods and systems are provided for a ducted plenum of a positive crankcase ventilation system for an engine. In one example, the ducted plenum may include a plurality of ducts coupled to a central chamber and an oil separator and valve arranged downstream of the central chamber. The ducted plenum may vent gases from an engine crankcase and deliver the vented gases to the engine intake system.

A structural frame is provided herein. The structural frame may provide a lubrication passage that feeds a lubricant to a cylinder block. The structural frame may increase cylinder block strength while allowing a cylinder block to be constructed of less material.

Cylinder block assembly

An assembly is provided herein. The assembly includes a cylinder block and a cooler coupled to the cylinder block positioned in a valley between two cylinder banks, the cooler including a lubricant passage having a first section configured to flow lubricant in an opposing direction to the flow of lubricant through a second section, the first and second sections each extending longitudinally from a first peripheral cylinder to a second peripheral cylinder in one of the cylinder banks.

According to one embodiment, a vehicle powertrain includes an engine having a first locking feature defining first mating surfaces, and a differential coupled to a transfer case via a driveshaft. The differential includes a second locking feature defining second mating surfaces. The first and second locking features are engaged such that the first and second mating surfaces are disposed against each other connecting the engine and the differential. A fastener is disposed within the engine and the differential.

Differential mounting system

A cylinder block assembly for a V-engine is provided. In one example, the cylinder block assembly includes a cylinder block including a plurality of cylinders divided into a first cylinder bank and a second cylinder bank, a valley positioned between the first and second cylinder banks, and a plurality of crankshaft supports. The cylinder block assembly further includes a structural frame including an interior surface coupled to the plurality of crankshaft supports and two top surfaces arranged above the interior surface and on opposing sides of the assembly, where each top surface is coupled to the cylinder block above a top of the plurality of crankshaft supports.

Assembly for a V-engine

A cylinder block is provided. The cylinder block includes a cylinder, two crankshaft supports at a bottom of the cylinder block, a cylinder head engaging surface at a top of the cylinder block, and first and second exterior sidewalls, the first exterior sidewall extending from the cylinder head engaging surface to a first structural frame engaging surface positioned above a centerline of the two crankshaft supports.

Cylinder block

A cylinder block assembly is provided. The cylinder block assembly includes a cylinder block including a cylinder, two crankshaft supports at a bottom of the cylinder block, first and second cylinder block exterior sidewalls ending above a centerline of the two crankshaft supports. The cylinder block assembly further includes a structural frame coupled to the cylinder block, the structural frame including first and second structural frame exterior sidewalls extending above the centerline of the two crankshaft supports and coupled to the first and second cylinder block exterior sidewalls.

A cylinder block assembly is provided. In one example, the cylinder block assembly includes a crankshaft support with a single structural frame attachment feature. The single structural frame attachment feature may reduce stress within the cylinder block assembly.

A cylinder block including a cylinder and two crankshaft supports at a bottom of the cylinder block is described. The cylinder block may be coupled to a structural frame such that the cylinder block is lubricated through the structural frame. The cylinder block may reduce vehicle weight and cost.
