A server compute device may include circuitry configured to receive a caregiver call request based on a short message service (SMS) message sent from a mobile communication device of a patient. The circuitry of the server compute device may additionally be configured to determine as a function of a mobile communication device identifier of the mobile communication device that sent the caregiver call request, a caregiver to notify. Further, the circuitry may be configured to send, to the determined caregiver, a notification of the caregiver call request.

Technologies for managing caregiver call requests via short message service

A system and method of patient bed communication and bed-to-room association in a healthcare facility having a network with at least one wireless access point (WAP) and a nurse call system is provided. A handheld unit is moved to a position within a pairing distance of a pairing zone of a patient bed so that the handheld unit and the bed are paired using a first wireless communication technology. A second wireless communication technology is used to send bed identification data (ID) to the handheld unit after the pairing operation has been completed. The bed ID is transmitted from the handheld unit to the nurse call system via a wired connection to establish a bed-to-room association between the patient bed and a room in which the patient bed is located. A third wireless communication technology is used to send bed status data and the bed ID to the WAP of the network.

A location monitoring system tracks a location of a user within a healthcare facility. When the user is detected in a patient room an electronic controller activates a voice command database having a plurality of voice commands specific to the user. A microphone located in the patient room receives one of the plurality of voice commands. The electronic controller transmits the one of the plurality of voice commands to a remote device positioned outside of the patient room.

The equipment includes a patient support apparatus such as a patient bed, a nurse call computer, a physiological monitor, a patient lift, a locating computer of a locating system, and an incontinence detection pad. The analytics engine analyzes the data from the equipment to determine a sepsis risk score, a falls risk score, and a pressure injury score. The apparatus further include displays that are communicatively coupled to the analytics engine and that display the sepsis, falls, and pressure injury risk scores. The displays include a status board display located at a master nurse station, an in-room display provided by a room station of a nurse call system, an electronic medical records (EMR) display of an EMR computer, and a mobile device display of a mobile device of a caregiver assigned to the patient.
