A computing device, system and method. The computing device includes a memory storing instructions, and a processing circuitry coupled to the memory. The processing circuitry is configured to execute the instructions to process a first control signal and a second control signal from respective first and second control pins of a computing platform. The processing circuitry is further to transition the computing platform, based on a combination of the first control signal and the second control signal and using at least one voltage pin on the platform, between a low power state and a retention power state without transitioning to an operational power state in between.

A particular embodiment includes: a peripheral device including an energy storage component, a microphone using a microphone bias voltage, and a select switch configured to provide a first switch position wherein charging of the energy storage component using the microphone bias voltage via the microphone conductor is enabled, the select switch being configured provide a second switch position wherein charging of the energy storage component using the microphone bias voltage via the microphone conductor is disabled; and a mobile device and an application (app) executable in the mobile device to produce a switching tone on the audio signal conductor of the audio jack, the switching tone causing the select switch to transition to the first switch position or the second switch position.

System and method for data transmission and power supply capability over an audio jack for mobile devices

An integrated circuit (IC) packaging arrangement for surface mounting of the IC includes a package body that encapsulates one or more IC dies. The package body according to some embodiments has rectangular aspect ratio with a length dimension and a width dimension of different size. The IC packaging according to some embodiments includes leadless surface-mount electrical contacts. According to some embodiments, the leadless surface-mount contacts are situated in clusters at opposite ends of the length dimension of the IC body.

A method and apparatus for adjusting the charge for a battery under a power sharing arrangement is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises determining if power output capacity of an alternating current (AC) adapter is less than or greater than a system power requirement for a system that receives power from the AC adapter and a battery, determining a charge current for charging the battery from the AC adapter, based on a voltage range of the battery, the current charge being less than excess current available from the AC adapter in view of determining that the power output capacity of the AC adapter is greater than the system power requirement, and controlling a battery charger to charge the battery with the charge current by specifying the charge current to the battery charger if the power output capacity of the AC adapter is greater than the system power requirement.

Embodiments introduce redundant optical channels to significantly extend the lifetime of parallel optical transceivers. A plurality of transmitters, N, transmit on a plurality of optical channels, where N is an integer number of optical channels greater than 1. One or more redundant channels, M, are also provided. N+M multiple input shift registers provide multiple paths for signals from each of the transmitters to connect to N+M laser diodes. In the event up to M of the N+M laser diodes fail, the multiple input shift registers connect the N transmitters to functioning ones of the N+M laser diodes thus extending the life of the device. A corresponding scheme is also described for the receiver side.

An optical fiber connector for releasably coupling an optical fiber to an electro-optical module is disclosed. The optical fiber connector includes a housing, a strain relief, a fiber retention clip, and a pair of latching arms. The housing includes a housing bore defined through at least a portion of the housing and adapted to accommodate the exterior diameter of a typical optical fiber. The optical fiber extending through the strain relief and into the housing bore, terminating at an end of the housing. The optical fiber is retained by the housing by the utilization of the fiber retention clip. The latching arms are arranged to releasable attach the connector to an electro-optical device such that the optical fiber and an optical lens disposed in the electro-optical device are aligned.
