A paper dispensing system and method include one or more housings defining an internal chamber configured to retain a roll of wound paper. The one or more housings includes internal surfaces, and an opening through which an edge of the wound paper is dispensable. An intumescent material is coupled to the one or more housings. The intumescent material is configured to expand to fill and close open areas including the opening within the one or more housings in response to being exposed to a predetermined temperature.

A system includes a translucent display positioned such that a first face is a display face and that a second face is a projection face and at least one projector configured to project an image on the second face of the translucent display. The image is displayed on the first face. The air knife is at or proximate to a first portion of the floor. A vacuum has an air inlet. The vacuum draws in the airstream through the air inlet. The vacuum is at or proximate to a second portion of the floor that is opposite from the first portion. The first portion is at a first level that is above a second level of the second portion.

A vehicle includes an internal cabin. One or more areas are within the internal cabin. The one or more areas include one or more water-drawing components. A water supply system is within the internal cabin. The water supply system is configured to provide water to the one or more water-drawing components. A water leak detection system includes one or more sensing devices configured to detect water flow from the water supply system to the one or more water-drawing components. One or more shut-off valves are disposed on or within the water supply system. A control unit is in communication with the one or more sensing devices, the one or more shut-off valves, and the one or more water-drawing components. The control unit is configured to operate the one or more shut-off valves to stop the supply of water to the one or more water-drawing components in response to the one or more sensing devices detecting the water flow when the one or more water-drawing components are not in use.

Systems and methods provide technology for wayfinding assistance for visually-impaired passengers, including short-range transmitters distributed within a passenger cabin of an aircraft, a transit vehicle or a vessel, each short-range transmitter located proximate to a respective waypoint in the passenger cabin to transmit a signal identifying the respective waypoint in the passenger cabin, and a client application to, responsive to passing within a range of one of the plurality of short-range transmitters, receive a first transmission from the short-range transmitter and emit one or more of a first audible signal or a first haptic signal, based on the first transmission, as wayfinding assistance to a user of the client device. The technology can also include a mid-range transmitter located proximate to a service area in the passenger cabin, to transmit a signal providing at least one of a status of or a location of the service area.

The passenger service unit includes at least one projector configured to project an image onto one or more display surfaces, at least one sensor configured to indicate a current position of the one or more display surfaces, and a projector controller in communication with the at least one projector and the at least one sensor. The projector controller is programmed to receive a signal from the at least one sensor indicating a current position of a display surface and instruct the at least one projector to project at least one image onto the tray table based on the current position of the display surface.
