Disclosed herein are representative embodiments of methods, systems, and apparatus that can used to control real-time events (e.g., the real-time clock) during the design, simulation, or verification of an embedded system. In one exemplary embodiment disclosed herein, for example, a real-time clock signal is generated and tasks defined by an embedded software application are triggered with the real-time clock signal. In this embodiment, the embedded software application is executed by an embedded processor with a real-time operating system ('RTOS'), and the real-time clock signal is controllable independent of a processor clock signal driving the embedded processor in a manner that allows the real-time clock to have a different time base than the processor clock.

Controlling real time during embedded system development

This application discloses web or cloud-based electronic design automation tools, which can incorporate functionality to enable collaborative and/or social interaction among multiple different users of the electronic design automation tools. The electronic design automation tools can monitor activity of a user on a design tool, compare the activity of the user on the design tool to previous design activities of one or more different users of the design tool, and prompt presentation of a design suggestion to the user based, at least in part, on a commonality between the activity of the user and previous design activities of the one or more different users.

Social electronic design automation

An analysis mechanism is intended for use in a system performance simulator which includes a core simulator and which is intended for simulating the performance of a physical, real-world system, and which operates with a hardware description language. The hardware description language includes representations of physical, real-world devices in the form of a template set, wherein each template in the set includes an extraction mechanism for extracting indicators of system quality from the core simulator for each template, as the simulation progresses, or after simulation is complete. Additionally, a display interface is provided for displaying the system performance indicators of design quality to a designer, either during or after the simulation.
