Apparatus for monitoring activation in a heart comprises a probe, a plurality of electrodessupported on the probe and extending over a detection area of the probe, the detection area being arranged to contact a detection region of the heart. Each of the electrodesis arranged to detect electrical potential at a respective position in the heart during movement of a series of activation wave fronts across the detection region. A processor is arranged to analyse the detected electrical potentials to identify a propagation direction of at least one of the wave fronts, and to generate an output indicative of that direction.

Systems and methods for treating cardiac arrhythmia

A method of analysing changes in the electrical activity of a patient's heart between a reference state and a test state, the method using a reference data set of electrophysiological data captured from the patient in the reference state and at least one test data set of electrophysiological data captured from the patient in the test state, each data set defining a plurality of electrograms for a respective plurality of spatial locations relative to the heart, the method comprising processing the electrophysiological data by, matching each electrogram in the reference data set to a corresponding electrogram in the at least one test data set to create a pair of electrograms for each of the plurality of spatial locations, and deriving a time delay for each spatial location by calculating the time delay between the electrograms of the pair of matched electrograms for that spatial location.

Method and apparatus for analysing changes in the electrical activity of a patient's heart in different states

A device and a method thereof for determining a hemodynamic state of an individual from a magnitude of a perfusion signal or a signal which is a measure of a volume of blood in the thoracic cavity of the individual, wherein the control device is configured to receive a first signal and a heart rate signal, divide the first signal into frames, wherein a frame length is determined from an oscillation period of the heart rate signal, and determine a magnitude of the first signal from at least two frames, so as to obtain a more reliable magnitude of the first signal.

A pacemaker optimising apparatus comprising: a component () which noninvasively or invasively monitors a haemodynamic measurement continuously in an individual and a processor () for receiving the haemodynamic measure and generating a pacemaker programming signal in response to this. There is also provided a communication device () for sending the pacemaker programming signal to the control system of the pacemaker (). There is also a method for an efficient process by which this apparatus can automatically use the haemodynamic measurements to determine the ideal settings for a particular pacemaker in a particular individual, and to updates the pacemaker's settings accordingly.
