A flow meter includes a meter section formed from a single stock of material and having a first inner pipe portion, a second inner pipe portion and an orifice plate defined between the first inner pipe portion and the second inner pipe portion, wherein the orifice plate has an orifice with a cross-sectional area that is less than a cross-sectional area of the first inner pipe portion. The flow meter further includes a first pipe connecting section connected to a first side of the meter section and having a pipe flange and a second pipe connection section connected to a second side of the meter section and having a second pipe flange.

Systems and methods are disclosed for indicating bottoming contact between an inner wall of a fluid carrying conduit and a distal tip process measurement probe. A process device, such as a fluid flow meter, has a process measurement probe configured for insertion into the fluid carrying conduit. An insertion mechanism is coupled to the process measurement probe and configured to apply force to insert the process measurement probe into the fluid carrying conduit. A bottoming indicator is configured to provide an indication of proper bottoming of the distal tip of the process measurement probe against the inner wall of the fluid carrying conduit as a function of an insertion related force or pressure.

This invention relates to an improved high pressure mounting for removably positioning pitot tube type flow measurement devices in a pipeline where the mounting includes a hollow tubular collar welded to the pipe in alignment with a probe-receiving opening therein and which is sized to slidably receive the body of the probe for movement into and out of the pipe, a relatively deformable and compressible ferrule encircling the probe body movable into abutting relation to an annular seat provided on the end of the collar remote from the welded end thereof, and a compression nut adapted to be screwed onto a threaded end of the collar adjacent the seat and cooperate therewith and with the ferrule therebetween to crimp the latter tightly around the probe thus sealing the probe in a fixed operative position, the improved positive lock which is characterized by adding an externally-threaded male extension to the compression nut, providing the probe body with a fixed abutment-forming projection exposed beyond said extension, and mounting a hollow open-ended generally cup-shaped cap on the probe body on the opposite side of the projection from the extension, the projection being sized to pass easily into the cap while the latter has both an internally-threaded portion adapted to screw onto the extension as well as an abutment-forming shoulder positioned and adapted to engage the projection when thus threadedly interconnected thereby preventing the probe body from being withdrawn from the collar.

This invention relates to an improved pitot tube type flow measuring instrument for use in pipes and other conduits characterized by a generally diamond-shaped sensor portion constituting a bluff body for splitting the flow that includes at least a large-radiused leading edge in which three or more impact ports are located, a pair of planar portions diverging rearwardly from the leading edge to a transversely-spaced pair of much shorter-radiused side edges that cooperate therewith and the downstream-facing portion of the bluff body to define flow separation zones capable of stabilizing the flow coefficient over a broad range of flow conditions provided that the distance separating them is at least five times either of their radii. The invention further includes the unique method of mounting the probe in two-phase or multi-phase flowing systems where one of the fluids is a liquid and another a gas that calls for tilting the axis of the sensing portion thereof at an angle to the horizontal such that pools of the liquid are trapped in one end or the other depending upon whether the gaseous constituent is hot or cold.
