A biodegradable triblock copolymer comprising: an A-B-A' structure wherein the A and A′ blocks each include polylactide, the B block includes from about 55 to about 100 mole percent of polytrimethylene carbonate and 0 to about 45 mole percent polylactide, and the biodegradable triblock copolymer overall includes from about 15 to about 25 mole percent of the polytrimethylene carbonate and from about 75 to about 85 mole percent of the polylactide. Also provided are compositions and implantable medical devices made therefrom.

Biodegradable triblock copolymers and implantable medical devices made therefrom

Systems and methods for tissue engineered synthetic support structures, such as grafts and patches are provided. The systems and methods can be used to make tissue engineered planar sheathes or meshes that can be fashioned into substantially planar or non-planar 3D tissue/organ structures adaptable to structure and organs within a human or mammalian body. The systems and methods can use bioink deposited on a material having specified properties and matured under specified conditions to create the tissue engineered planar sheathes or meshes having biomechanical and biological properties tailored to a particular tissue.

A suture including a reinforced loop is described herein. The suture includes an elongate body including a proximal section and a distal section, wherein the distal section includes first and second overlapping sections and a loop. A polymeric coating is positioned on at least a portion of the distal section to reinforce the loop.

The present disclosure provides methods for purifying p-dioxanone. In embodiments, crude p-dioxanone may be contacted with at least one isocyanate-functionalized scavenger. The at least one isocyanate-functionalized scavenger may react with hydroxyl compounds present with the crude p-dioxanone to form reaction products, in embodiments polyurethanes and/or polyureas, which may then be removed. The p-dioxanone thus obtained is of greater purity than the starting crude p-dioxanone.

Block copolymers wherein one of the blocks is made from hard phase forming monomers and another of the blocks is made from soft phase forming monomers copolymerized with randomly intermingled units of other soft phase forming monomers. The copolymers are useful in forming surgical articles, including both monofilament and multifilament sutures.
