An agricultural implement system that may utilize a central press wheel inflation system to provide variable pressure to press wheels within multiple row units distributed across a width of the agricultural implement system. The agricultural implement system may automatically modify a shape or contact area of the press wheels using variations of press wheel pressure based on various sensor data and performance/behavior data of other row unit control systems. The central press wheel inflation system may provide one or more air lines coupled to the press wheels, allowing internal pressure of the press wheels to be adjusted, thus effectively creating a V-shaped or V-press-like second stage contact patch that may be beneficial in certain soil conditions.

A system for anchoring unmanned aerial vehicles to surfaces includes a landing pad configured to be installed on an agricultural machine, with the landing pad defining a landing surface. Furthermore, the system includes an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) configured to land on the landing surface and a top surface of a field across which the agricultural machine is traveling. The UAV, in turn, includes an anchoring device configured to engage soil within the field to anchor the UAV to the field when the UAV has landed on the top surface of the field. Additionally, the anchoring device is further configured to engage the landing pad to anchor the UAV to the landing surface when the UAV has landed on the landing pad.

In one aspect, a system for dispensing agricultural products into a field using an agricultural machine may include a metering device configured to control a rate at which an agricultural product is dispensed into the field. Furthermore, the system may include a controller configured to determine a density of a cover crop present within the field as the agricultural machine is moved across the field. Moreover, the controller may be configured to determine an adjustment to be made to the rate at which the agricultural product is being dispensed for use in growing a primary crop within the field based on the determined density. Additionally, the controller may be configured to control the operation of the metering device to execute the adjustment of the rate at which the agricultural product is being dispensed.

A plugging control system for an agricultural implement includes a sensor configured to output a sensor signal indicative of plugging of a ground engaging component and a controller having a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to receive the sensor signal indicative of plugging of the ground engaging component from the sensor, determine whether the plugging exceeds a threshold value, and in response to the plugging exceeding the threshold value, output a monitoring signal to perform a monitoring operation, output a control signal to perform a control operation, or both.

In one aspect, a row unit for use on an agricultural implement may include a furrow-forming tool coupled to a frame. The furrow-forming tool may be configured to form a furrow in soil present within the field as the row unit is moved across the field. The row unit may also include a first dispensing device configured to dispense a first agricultural product into the furrow. Furthermore, the row unit may include a cultivator coupled to the frame and positioned aft of the furrow-forming tool relative to a direction of travel of the row unit. The cultivator may, in turn, be configured to agitate a lateral swath of the soil. Additionally, the row unit may include a second dispensing device positioned aft of the first dispensing device relative to the direction of travel, with the second dispensing device configured to dispense a second agricultural product into the field.

In one aspect, a system for controlling the operation of a seed-planting implement may include a ground-engaging tool and an actuator configured to adjust an operating parameter of the ground-engaging tool. Additionally, the controller may be configured to determine a density of a cover crop present within the field. Moreover, the controller may be configured to determine an adjustment to be made to the operating parameter of the ground-engaging tool based on the determined density. In addition, the controller may be configured to control the operation of the actuator to execute the adjustment of the operating parameter.

A soil resistivity detection system for an agricultural implement includes a row unit having row unit components. The row unit components include a residue management system configured to condition soil at a leading edge of the row unit, an opening system configured to form a furrow in the soil, a closing assembly configured to close the furrow, and a press wheel assembly configured to compact the soil. The soil resistivity detection system also includes a control assembly configured to output an electrical current to a first pair of the row unit components, receive voltages from a second pair of the row unit components, determine a voltage differential based on the voltages, and determine a soil resistivity based on the voltage differential.

In one aspect, a method for adjusting the down force applied to a row unit of an implement during the performance of a planting operation within a field may include receiving, by a computing device, soil composition data associated with a soil composition of soil within the field and determining a moisture content of the soil within the field. The method may also include calculating a soil plasticity factor associated with the soil within the field based on the soil composition data and the moisture content of the soil and adjusting a down force applied to at least one row unit of the implement based on the soil plasticity factor.

Additionally, the row unit may include a seed-dispensing assembly coupled to the implement toolbar. The seed-dispensing assembly may include a furrow-forming device configured to form a seed-receiving furrow within the inter-row area of the field. The seed-dispensing assembly may further include a seed-dispensing device configured to dispense seeds into the seed-receiving furrow.

In one aspect, a system for controlling the speed of a seed-planting implement may include a furrow closing assembly configured to close a furrow formed in the soil by the seed-planting implement. Furthermore, the system may include a sensor configured to capture data indicative of an operational parameter of the furrow closing assembly. Additionally, the system may include an implement-based controller supported on the seed-planting implement and being communicatively coupled to the sensor. As such, the implement-based controller may be configured to initiate control of a drive parameter of a work vehicle configured to tow the seed-planting implement based on sensor data received from the sensor in a manner that adjusts the speed of the seed-planting implement.

A pre-metering system for feeding different types of seed into a seed meter of a planter includes separate feeder wheels that are selectively rotated to deliver different types of seed from on-row storage into the seed meter at a given time. The feeder wheels may be supported by a feeder wheel carrier that may also support various wall and ramped structures, such as upright divider walls and sloped walls that maintain separation between the different types of seeds in the on-row storage and direct the different types of seed toward the individual feeder wheels.
