Exemplary embodiments provide an interactive tool that allows users to design and evaluate storage mechanisms while program code executes. For example, an embodiment uses compact histogram density scales (CHDS's) to display count information for bins making up the storage mechanism (e.g., a register). The user can determine whether counts are within a desirable range, exceeding an overflow threshold, or exceeding an underflow threshold for a bin. Embodiments allow the user to observe overflow/underflow thresholds, signedness, word lengths, fraction lengths, etc., while program code that interacts with the register executes.

A technical computing environment may include a modeling component to facilitate construction of a model and a code generation component. The modeling component may include an input component to receive one or more input signals through an interface protocol, and one or more components to receive one or more parameters, corresponding to the input signals received using the interface protocol, and to operate on the one or more parameters. The code generation component may include a code generator to generate, from the model, programming code compatible with a target environment, and an output interface to output the programming code.

Exemplary embodiments allow configurable execution of operations associated with a state enabled system in a graphical modeling or graphical programming environment. In an embodiment, a state enabled system may be identified in a graphical model, or a graphical program, or both. The state enabled system may be associated with a first operation and a second operation, and may include instructions to execute the first and second operations. The state enabled system may be configured to always execute the first operation regardless of an enabling condition. The state enabled system may also be configured to prevent an execution of the second operation unless the enabling condition is satisfied.

The size and dimensionality of the signal can vary without the use of a graphically rendered connection to convey the size and dimension information to a block associated with the signal.

In an embodiment, one or more computer readable media are provided. The media store executable instructions that when executed by processing logic implicitly change the value of a state in a graphical model while the model executes. The media store one or more instructions for identifying a context that includes a first block having a state and for executing the context when the state has a first value, the executing storing an intermediate result. The media store one or more instructions for changing, implicitly, the state from the first value to a second value based on a user input, where the changing occurs while the context is executing, or while the context is paused. The media store one or more instructions for executing the context when the state has the second value.
