A low profile high current composite transformer is disclosed. Some embodiments of the transformer include a first conductive winding having a first start lead, a first finish lead, a first plurality of winding turns, and a first hollow core; a second conductive winding having a second start lead, a second finish lead, a second plurality of turns, and a second hollow core; and a soft magnetic composite compressed surrounding the first and second windings. The soft magnetic composite with distributed gap provides for a near linear saturation curve.

Method of forming an electromagnetic device

An inductor and method for making the same are provided. The inductor includes a coil formed from a conductor and having a serpentine shape. The coil may have an 'S'-shape. The coil has two leads extending from opposite ends of the coil. An inductor body surrounds the coil and portions of the leads. The leads may be wrapped around the body to create contact points on the exterior of the inductor.

Inductor having high current coil with low direct current resistance

A shielded inductor and a method of making a shielded inductor are provided. The shielded inductor includes a core body surrounding a conductive coil, leads in electrical communication with the coil, and a shield covering at least parts of the outer surface of the core body. An insulating material may be provided between parts of the core body and parts of the shield. A method of making a shielded inductor is also provided.
