A method for image capture includes determining an exposure range and setting at least one camera parameter to capture an underexposed image outside the exposure range. The underexposed image is processed using a neural network to recover image details. Image defects due to camera or object motion blur can be reduced.

Photographic underexposure correction using a neural network

A method for image capture includes identifying a bright spot in an image. A neural network is used to recover details in bright spot area through a trained de-noising process. Post-processing of the image is conducted to match image parameters of recovered details in the bright spot area to another area of the image.

A diamond-shaped lens system includes: a half diamond-shaped lens including refractive material and having a first surface, a second surface and a third surface for refracting incident light beams from an object having a width of X, from the first surface towards the second surface; a first reflective material positioned at the second surface of the half diamond-shaped lens for reflecting the refracted light beams at a first angle toward the third surface; a second reflective material positioned at the third surface of the half diamond-shaped lens for reflecting the light beams reflected from the first reflective material toward the first surface to exit the first surface at a second angle toward the third surface to form an image of the object with a width Y; and; an apparatus for processing the image of the object to reduce chromatic aberrations.

A system for detecting and discriminating a metal object in a bulk non-metallic material includes at least one triple-axis magnetometer adapted to detect a change of a magnetic field and output a signal including a detection signal representative of a metal object and a signal processing system adapted to detect the detection signal. The bulk non-metallic may be continuously moving through a detection volume, or may be placed in and removed from the detection volume as a batch.

Tramp metal detection

A method of quantifying at least one property of interest of an oil sands ore sample is provided using a laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) method. The LIBS method may be applied to oil sands ore being conveyed prior to a slurry process to measure oil sand composition and provide information which may predict extraction characteristics. The LIBS method may be applied to oil sands core samples in a laboratory setting to reduce the cost and analysis time associated with conventional laboratory measurement techniques.

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy of oil sands

A system for characterizing a slurry in a slurry process includes a flow tube, a camera, and a computer. The system is suitable for use with an oil sands extraction slurry processed or treated by an oil sands extraction slurry process. The slurry is diverted from the slurry process into the flow tube. The camera images the slurry as it flows through a transparent portion of the flow tube to produce a digital image of the slurry. The computer analyzes the digital image to determine a slurry characteristic. Based on the determined slurry characteristic, the computer may predict a performance metric of the slurry process and adjust an operating parameter of the slurry process to optimize the slurry process towards a target performance metric. Multiple systems may be used to continuously monitor slurry characteristics at upstream and downstream steps of the slurry process, and determine correlations between those characteristics.

System and method for image-based analysis of a slurry and control of a slurry process

A method of detecting E-line loss in a disc stack centrifuge is provided, comprising: collecting data from at least one instrument associated with the centrifuge over a specific time period; calculating one or more indicators by comparing the collected data with expected values from a normally operating centrifuge, the indicators being indicative of a start of an E-line loss event; calculating the probability of E-line loss by applying weighted voting to the indicators to yield a probability value; and activating an alert upon determination that the probability value exceeds a threshold value.
