Printing system and method for reducing the visibility of gloss differentials having at least one computer-supported inline imaging unit assembly designed to measure specular light reflecting gloss differentials of printed ink. At least one smoothing roller assembly is operationally connected to at least one sheet transport assembly or a smoothing transport subassembly of the sheet transport assembly of the printing system. A smoothing roller assembly is designed to roll at least partly the length and width of at least one printed side of at least one printed sheet disposed along the transport subassembly, pressure generated by the smoothing roller assembly configured to reduce detected gloss differentials from printed ink. At least the outer surface of the at least one smoothing roller assembly is substantially at least one or more of metal and polyurethane.

System and method to reduce the visibility of gloss differentials on printed sheets

A processor identifies print defect locations where printing defects occur and a assigns different sensitivity values to different zones of a job image being prepared for printing by a printing engine. The processor changes the orientation of the job image to a revised orientation, relative to print media, to avoid locating one or more high-sensitivity zones of the job image in the print defect locations. The high-sensitivity zones are ones of the zones having a sensitivity value above a threshold sensitivity value. The printing engine prints the job image on the print media at the revised orientation.

The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for managing cancelled jobs at a multi-function device. The method includes receiving a request from a user to cancel a job submitted at the multi-function device. Based on the request, a user interface is provided to the user. The user interface includes one or more pre-defined options related to cancelling the job, for selection by the user. The one or more pre-defined options can be quality related option or non-quality related option. The selected pre-defined option is analyzed and based on the analysis, an admin user is notified in real-time to take an appropriate action.

The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for securing a portable storage device connected to a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port of a mufti-function device. The method includes determining if the portable storage device is unattended at the multi-function device for a pre-defined time. Based on the determination, a retraction assembly is activated to secure the portable storage device inside the multi-function device. Once the retraction assembly is activated, the retraction process starts where the portable storage device is retracted to a first position within the multi-function device. Then, the portable storage device is moved from the first position to a second position within the multi-function device. Thereafter, the portable storage device is detached, in the second position, from the USB port to a container of the retraction assembly to secure the portable storage device.

The disclosure discloses methods and systems for keyword-based printing. The method includes receiving a request for printing a document from a user. Various systems and methods maintain a print job of a user in a print queue and identify the user approaching a printing device using a user identification device operatively connected to the printing device. Such systems/methods alter the position of the print job within the print queue (e.g., to a higher priority position) or even begin printing the print job when the user identification device identifies the user approaching the printing device (i.e., before the user reaches the printing device). Systems and methods can also identify the urgency of the user using the user identification device.
