A method, an apparatus, and a system for adjusting a multimedia encoding rate are disclosed. The method includes: obtaining an expected multimedia encoding rate by using the available network bandwidth corresponding to the transmission path of a multimedia service, the expected QoE of the multimedia service, and the current multimedia encoding rate as input parameters and according to a preset multimedia resource policy decision, where the expected multimedia encoding rate is used as a reference for adjusting the current multimedia encoding rate. With the present disclosure, under the current network performance, an optimal point for balancing the effects of the media encoding rate and the network performance on the QoE is found by adjusting the multimedia encoding rate, thus achieving optimal QoE. In this way, the adjustment process is simple and fast and the success rate is high, thus improving the QoE.

Method, apparatus, and system for adjusting multimedia encoding rate

The present invention relates to network communication field. A method for admission control, an apparatus and a communication system thereof are disclosed according to the present invention. The method includes measuring, by an egress node, traffic from an ingress node, and calculating a current congestion degree; comparing, by the egress node, the current calculated CLE with a last calculated CLE, and sending the current calculated CLE to an admission control decision entity by the egress node if the current calculated CLE crosses a predetermined threshold; receiving and storing the CLE by the admission control decision entity; and making a decision by the admission control decision entity based on the stored CLE, when a service traffic request arrives at the admission control decision entity, and determining whether to admit the service traffic request. According to the method for admission control provided by the present invention in which CLE is transferred proactively, the number of messages for transferring CLE is reduced when calling rate is high, and admission decision procedure is accelerated.

A method for measuring network performance is disclosed to solve the problem in active network performance measurement that a measurement point on receiving a packet is unable to determine the source of the packet after the network address translation (NAT). The method includes that a first measurement point constructs a probe packet containing address information about the first measurement point in a data field thereof based on a measurement instruction and sends the probe packet to a second measurement point via a NAT device for translating the network address, and the second measurement point receives the probe packet and determines the source of the packet according to the address information in the packet; and finally calculates network performance metrics, according to related information in the probe packet. A network system is also disclosed.
