A method of dynamically damping an electric motor () that is controlled by an H-bridge driver () by interdigitating power pulses with braking pulses by switching from a power switch mode to a shorting circuit mode with switches (and) closed that brakes the electric motor.

Electric motor with dynamic damping

A very low power quadrature position sensing system that includes a first sensor, which defines a starting point of a first channel. First sensor is coupled to a first square wave generator. A second sensor, in quadrature with first sensor, defining a starting point of a second channel, with second sensor coupled to a second square wave generator. The system further includes a moving member having a magnetized surface with a magnetic distribution disposed on the magnetized surface. The magnetized surface is sensed by the first sensor, and the second sensor during movement by the moving member, the first sensor generates a high signal forming a rising edge of a square wave generated by the first square wave generator and the first sensor generates a low signal forming a falling edge of a square wave generated by the first square wave generator, and during movement of the moving member, the second sensor generates a high signal forming a rising edge of a square wave generated by the second square wave generator and the second sensor generates a low signal forming a falling edge of the square wave generated by the second square wave generator. A method for very low power quadrature position sensing includes the determination of a first set of sensed signals using a first sensor and the determination of a second set of sensed signals using a second sensor. The method includes the derivation of a first sequence of square waves from the first set of sensed signals. The method further includes the derivation of a second sequence of square waves from the second set of sensed signals that are in quadrature with the first sequence of square waves. The method also includes the generation of a redundancy sequence signal using a redundancy circuit that comprises a switch.

Apparatus and method for low power position sensing systems

An automotive rear deck lid actuator assembly including an electronic filter that reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) conduction and a shield that limits EMI radiation. The assembly includes a clamshell-type housing closed by a flat metal backplate. An actuator power supply terminal and an actuator ground terminal are supported on the housing and connect the actuator assembly to a vehicle electrical system. An electric motor that drives a latch mechanism is disposed in the housing and includes a motor power supply terminal connected to the actuator power supply terminal and a motor ground terminal connected to the actuator ground terminal. The electronic filter is disposed in the housing is and connected between the motor terminals and the actuator terminals. The shield is disposed in the housing, at least partially surrounds the motor and is connected to ground.

Automotive deck lid actuator

An arrangement of an automotive lamp assembly is provided including a reflector housing with a central opening; a discharge light assembly mounted to the reflector through the opening; a base supporting the discharge light assembly in the reflector, the base having a concentric conductor connected to the discharge light assembly at one end and a pin first terminal on an opposite end of the first conductor, and the base having a second eccentric conductor connected to the discharge light assembly on one end with a collar connected on an opposite end; a socket sealed with the base, the socket having a concentric conductor for mating with the base concentric conductor, the socket concentric conductor having a collar terminal at a first end toward the base and a blade terminal at a second opposite end, the socket also having an eccentric conductor having a collar terminal at a first end toward the base and a blade end at a second opposite end; an annular high voltage insulation member surrounding the first end of the socket concentric conductor; first and second tubular passages respectively extending through the socket housing intersecting with the blades of the concentric and eccentric socket conductors; first and second high voltage insulated wire conductors with terminals for mating with the socket conductor terminals; and seal boots sealing the first and second lead wires.

High intensity discharge automotive lamp socket

A motor switching and control circuit is disclosed in which the direction of transport of web material transferred between two reels is reversed by detecting a condition requiring reversal, generating a reversing signal in response to the detected condition, and switching the direction of rotation of an AC motor in response to the reversing signal. Both motor direction switching and reversing condition detection switching are accomplished at substantially zero motor current flowing through and zero motor voltage across the contacts of any circuit switches, thereby eliminating radio frequency interference and logical noise generation during switching. The circuit is particularly useful in connection with the ribbon control drive in an impact printer such as a matrix printer.
