A wheelchair lift arrangement configured to be installed in a preexisting structure includes a lift base assembly including a lift base plate and two supports attached to the lift base plate; and at least one installation bracket connected to each of the supports, respectively. Each installation bracket includes a horizontal portion and a vertical portion. The horizontal portion and the vertical portion of each installation bracket are each configured to connect the respective installation bracket and the lift base assembly to the preexisting structure at a separate location.

Installation method and arrangement for a wheelchair lift arrangement

A load sensing system for a wheelchair lift arrangement includes an elongated member that is rotatable about a longitudinal axis between an unloaded position and a loaded position; a biasing member that biases the elongated member toward the unloaded position; at least one contact member connected to the elongated member and configured to contact a bridge plate; and a switch assembly operatively connected to the elongated member, the switch assembly being configured to be activated to prevent operation of the wheelchair lift arrangement when the elongated member is in the loaded position. A method of regulating movement of a lift platform of a wheelchair lift arrangement is also provided.

A hydraulic system for an access arrangement having a platform configured for movement between a deployed position and a stowed position, the hydraulic system including: at least one hydraulic power unit configured to urge hydraulic fluid through a hydraulic circuit; at least one hydraulic cylinder directly or indirectly connected to a portion of the platform and configured to urge the platform towards at least one of the stowed position and the deployed position, wherein the at least one hydraulic cylinder is in fluid communication with the hydraulic power unit; and a pressure regulating valve in a path between the at least one hydraulic power unit and the at least one hydraulic cylinder, wherein the pressure regulating valve is operable to prevent the at least one hydraulic cylinder from urging the platform to the stowed position if a load on the platform exceeds a specified threshold.

A method for detecting weight on a platform lift having a platform, a hydraulic cylinder, and a hydraulic circuit including the steps of measuring a static pressure of the hydraulic circuit, and comparing the measured static pressure to a baseline pressure of the hydraulic circuit. The baseline pressure is a static pressure of the hydraulic circuit without external weight positioned on the platform.

Static pressure anti-stow logic for platform wheelchair lifts

A vehicular wheelchair lift with a power controlled safety barrier for physically blocking a wheelchair from inadvertently rolling off a platform of the wheelchair lift during use. The power safety barrier utilizes a linkage mechanism to open or close a roll stop. The linkage mechanism includes a pair of linkage bars and a flexible linkage member to mechanically connect the roll stop to a power actuating device. The roll stop is pivotably mounted to an outer end of the platform. The roll stop is required to open and close relative to the platform according to the relative platform positions. When the platform is in the ground position, the roll stop is opened substantially in a horizontal plane and is an extension of the platform for unloading the wheelchair. In the powered control aspects, during the wheelchair lift transition period when platform is off the ground position, the roll stop is actuated to the closed position before the wheelchair lift can be operated. Reversely, during the wheelchair lift transition period when the platform is lowered to the ground, the roll stop cannot be actuated to the open position until the platform has reached the ground position.

Power safety barrier for wheelchair lift

A vehicle lift for use in conjunction with a vehicle to facilitate passengers boarding and leaving the vehicle. The vehicle lift has an improved driving mechanism for moving a platform between a stowed position to a deployed position. The driving mechanism includes a bidirectional motor which is mechanically coupled to a gear box which in turn is coupled to a pinion that is connected to a main sprocket. A longitudinal bracket is affixed to the underside of a top panel of the mounting enclosure and is located parallel to a longitudinal guide bar. At both ends of the longitudinal bracket are sprockets which are coupled by a loop chain. Accordingly, engaging the main sprocket with the loop chain moves the traveling assembly inward or outward with respect to the vehicle. The chain is immobilized by a manual spring biased locking mechanism to prevent the chain from moving linearly along the bracket. Therefore, when the motor is energized, it actuates the gear box which in turn drives the pinion, which in turn rotates the main sprocket to linearly travel on the chain moving the platform to a deployed position and visa verse.

Driving mechanism for vehicle lifts

An unity arm lever adaptor for use with a powered vehicular wheelchair lift. The unity arm lever adaptor is adapted for connecting together to a handrail, a vertical arm, a saddle or roller, and a vertical link of the wheelchair lift. The arm lever adaptor has an extended adaptor section, an elongated main section, and a pivotable yoke section. The main section has a pivotable end which is remote from the yoke section but adjacent to the extended adaptor section. The extended adaptor section is inserted through an opening on the vertical arm for adapting and securing to an end of the handrail. The pivotable end is pivotably connected to the vertical arm. The yoke section is pivotably connected to the saddle and the vertical link.
