A high-tension circuit-breaker having a circuit-breaking chamber filled with a dielectric gas under pressure and including a resistance disposed coaxially with the circuit-breaking chamber and an insertion device for inserting said resistance into the circuit protected by the circuit-breaker while the circuit-breaker is closing, said insertion device being placed inside the circuit-breaking chamber and including a resistance-inserting contact in electrical contact with one end of the resistance, the circuit-breaker including the improvement of a base (22) at one of its ends, said base being closed by a first cover (51), with said resistance (4) being disposed in a cylindrical housing (60) which is fixed to said base, said housing being closed by a second cover (70), the first cover being provided with a central opening constituting a seat for a first valve plate (83) which is biased by a first spring (85), the second cover being provided with a central opening constituting a seat for a second valve plate (91) which is biased by a second spring (93), the valve plates being associated with means for keeping them open against the bias of the springs when the housing (60) is in the position on the base, and for closing them when the housing is at a distance from the base, said means providing the electrical connection between said resistance (4) and said resistance-inserting contact (3A), the housing co-operating in sealed manner with the first cover while being disassembled therefrom in such a manner as to prevent air from being admitted into the space lying between the covers until the valves are closed.

Dielectric gas high-tension circuit-breaker having a closure resistance

A high-tension circuit-breaker having dielectric gas under pressure, the circuit-breaker comprising at least one assembled pair of first and second superposed insulating columns, the first column (3) acting as a support and the second column enclosing a circuit-breaking chamber, each of said columns being provided at its end facing the other column of the pair with a closure plate (5,6) enabling the columns to be disassembled without losing the gas contained in either of them, said plates being provided with respective central holes for passing a rod (12, 13) for operating the circuit-breaker contacts, the circuit-breaker being characterized in that each of said plates (5, 6) includes at least one hollow portion with said hollow portions facing each other in pairs, each of which defines a housing for receiving a container (4) of regenerator material, the end of each hollow portion and the two ends of each container being provided with holes to enable gas to flow from one column to the other through said regenerator material, with the holes through said hollow portions being closed by valve plates (50, 60) located inside the columns and urged by springs towards a closure position when the columns are disassembled, with each of the valve plates including a part (50A, 60A) which, when the columns are assembled and a container is in place, bear against the container in order to hold the valve plate in its open position against the resilient urging of the spring.

High-tension circuit-breaker having arc-extinguishing gas under pressure

A mechanism for operating a circuit-breaker and suitable for causing a circuit-breaker to perform a rapid opening-closing-re-opening cycle, said circuit-breaker including a set of fixed contacts and a set moving contacts, said operating mechanism including an operating rod (13) for connection to said set of moving contacts, a first spring (24) imparting motion, when it expands, to said rod in a direction corresponding to circuit-breaker opening, a second spring capable of storing at least twice as much energy as said first spring and imparting motion, when it expands, to said rod in a direction which corresponds to said circuit-breaker closing, said mechanism further including means for ensuring that expansion of said second spring causes said first spring to be re-compressed, and each of said first and second springs being associated with a respective controllable locking member, said circuit-breaker operating mechanism being characterized in that it further includes a first cylinder (20) having said operating rod passing axially therethrough, a second cylinder (22) coaxial with said first cylinder, fixed relative thereto, and containing said first spring (24) therein, and a third cylinder (50) coaxial with said first and second cylinders and disposed between said first cylinder and said second cylinder and being movable relative thereto, said second spring (54) being disposed between said first and second cylinders, said third cylinder including a collar (50A) serving as an abutment for said second spring, and enabling said third cylinder to slide in said first cylinder and co-operating with a set of levers (71, 72) which are hinged on and fixed to said rod for driving said rod when said second spring expands.

Operating mechanism for a circuit-breaker, and a circuit-breaker fitted

The circuit breaker comprises first (2A) and second (2B) compressed-gas-filled enclosures, said first enclosure containing fixed contacts and a moving assembly comprising contacts cooperating with said fixed contacts, which moving assembly is movable by means of a control rod (12), said second enclosure containing a connecting rod (30) articulated on a crank (40) swivelling about a shaft (41) going through the housing of the control mechanism and connected on the outside of said housing with rotational driving means, said first and second enclosures (2A, 2B) being coaxially superposed and attached together when the circuit breaker is assembled, rods (12) and (30) being fast end to end, the moving assembly then having an operating stroke going from a first position where the breaker is open to a second position where the breaker is closed. The moving assembly can be moved beyond said second, closed breaker position by an overstroke obtained by an increased rotation of said shaft (41), the latter having means for locking it in overstroke position, said first enclosure comprising a sliding, tubular air lock ( 50) able, when the moving assembly is in overstroke position, to assume a position sealingly closing off said first enclosure.

Compressed gas circuit breaker able to be assembled and disassembled

The assembling means, in view of the subsequent separation of the two enclosures of an electrical cutout apparatus, comprises an intermediate, slidable sealing air lock with means operable to simultaneously seal one enclosure on one side thereof and the other enclosure on the other side thereof, said air lock comprising two separable portions which when separated respectively become fast with one and the other enclosures, the device control rod going through both enclosures having a part within said air lock provided with means for uncoupling the rod into two sections which are fast with respective portions of said enclosures, said air lock consisting of a cylindrical space established between the end of the first section of said rod and the inside of a hollow piston (15). The lower end of the first enclosure is provided with a first assembly plate for mounting on a second assembly plate on the upper end of the second enclosure, said first plate comprising a cylindrical sleeve against the inside of which is arranged a slide block (19) attached to the second plate, the head (7) of the piston (15) being slidably arranged and fitted with a seal within said cylindrical sleeve. To simplify assembly and disassembly, an internally threaded sleeve (111) is provided, which screws onto a thread on a portion of the outside surface of the slide block (19), together with means for making slidably fast said sleeve (111) with said piston (15).

Means for assembling two enclosures of an electrical cutout apparatus

A pressurized gas circuit breaker capable of having a breaker chamber dismantled therefrom without loss of dielectric gas comprises: a vertical insulating support (101); a intermediate structure (100) mounted on said support and at least two breaker chambers (1, 1') per phase. Said chambers are disposed in a V-configuration on said intermediate structure, and said support and said breaker chambers are filled with gas under pressure. The circuit breaker further comprises a control jack (32) situated at the bottom of the support, and means for transmitting motion from the jack to the chambers to operate circuit breaking means located therein. Said means for transmitting motion comprise: gas-tight guide tube means (2, 2') filled, in use, with gas under pressure and having a straight insulating portion (102) situated inside the vertical insulating support and curved portions (103) situated inside said intermediate structure and leading to respective ones of said breaker chambers. Control shaft means (42, 42') are mounted with a sliding fit inside said guide tube means, and have one end connected to said control jack, and other ends connected to respective ones of said breaker chambers. The portions (107) of said control shaft means that slide in the curved guide tube portions are flexible. Each breaker chamber is fitted with a respective sliding air-lock (see FIG. 2) capable at one end of sealing the breaker chamber and at another end of sealing the guide tube means. Said air-lock comprises two separable members one of which is made fast to the breaker chamber and the other of which is made fast to the guide tube means, and said control shaft means comprise coupling means located inside said air-lock to enable the control shaft means to be separated into a first portion connected to the breaker chamber and a second portion connected to the guide tube means.

Pressurized gas circuit-breaker for very high voltages having opening and closing resistors, comprising, in a main insulative enclosure (1), a fixed contact (21, 101), a movable contact (32, 34, 62), a closing resistor (8) and a device (19) for inserting the closing resistor, the circuit-breaker further comprising, in an auxiliary insulative enclosure (120), a movable auxiliary contact (121), a fixed auxiliary contact (131) and an opening resistor (133), the circuit-breaker being characterized in that the movable auxiliary contact (121) is moved by a mechanism disposed in a casing (150) common to both enclosures (1, 120) and on the side of the fixed contact (21, 101), the mechanism comprising a link-crank assembly (152, 152') and a bell-crank lever having two arms (154A, 154B). Application to circuit-breakers for very high voltages.

The invention relates to a compressed gas circuit-breaker with a tubular stationary contact, a tubular moving contact, a device for inserting a resistance when the circuit-breaker closes, the insertion device and the resistance being disposed in a coaxial casing, said device being controlled by the moving contact of the circuit-breaker, the insertion device (19) being of the semi-mobile type and having a first means (51, 52) for damping its closing and a second means (50, 44) for delaying its opening when the circuit-breaker opens, wherein the first means (51, 52) and the second means (50, 44) are of the type which operate by pressure reduction. Application to circuit-circuit breakers which equip very high tension lines.

Compressed gas circuit-breaker

A device for separably assembling first and second enclosures of an electric cut-out apparatus, said enclosures being filled with a dielectric fluid under pressure and having a rod for operating the cut-out apparatus passing therethrough with the compressed fluid in each of said enclosures being in communication with the compressed fluid in the other enclosure when the cut-out apparatus is in operation. The assembly device includes an intermediate slidable sealing air lock (41) which seals the first chamber and the second chamber. The air lock includes first and second separable portions (7,45) which are fast with respective ones of said enclosures. The operating rod (42) inside the air lock is separable into first and second portions (6,12) which are fast with respective ones of said enclosures. The invention applies in particular to compressed gas high tension circuit breakers.

Device for separably assembling two enclosures of a cut-out apparatus

The invention relates to a resistance switch-in device for switching in only when a circuit breaker closes, said switch-in device including a moving arcing contact in an interrupter chamber. The device is characterized in that the switch-in contacts (2 and 3, 32 and 33) are disposed in the interrupter chamber (1) of the circuit breaker and that since at least one (2,32,33) of said switch-in contacts is a moving contact, it moves on a path parallel to that of the moving arcing contact (5). The invention applies in particular to connecting a load to long-distance high-tension circuits that are unloaded.
