Cleaned metal surfaces are coated with an aqueous anti-corrosion treatment. The anti-corrosion treatment includes an organofunctional silsesquioxane and a fluoro metallic acid such as HTiF, HZrF, as well as others and blends. The metal surface can be rinsed immediately after coating, making this anti-corrosion treatment suitable for preparing a metal surface for electrocoating.

Process for depositing rinsable silsesquioxane films on metals

A method of applying to a clean metal surface an aqueous solution comprised of a small percentage of organofunctional siloxane oligomers. The organofunctional siloxane oligomers used in this method include silsesquioxanes. The organofunctional siloxane oligomers are applied to a metal surface prior to the application of a topcoat and function to inhibit corrosion of the metal surface.

Siloxane oligomer treatment for metals

A method of treating a substrate, such as a metal surface, by application of a silane coating composition containing at least one water-soluble or dispersible silane and a polymeric resin, which may be provided as a water-based dispersion of polymeric resin, the polymeric resin being present in an amount less than 10% by weight of the composition to slow the rate of corrosion of the metal surface and/or to promote adhesion of rubber thereto. The at least one silane can include a bis-amino silane, a vinyl silane, a bis-sulfur silane, or mixtures thereof and the polymeric resin may include an epoxy resin, acrylate resin, polyurethane resin, novolac resin, or mixtures thereof. The silane coating compositions may be either water or solvent based.

Silane coating compositions and methods of use thereof

A method of treating a metal surface by application of a solution containing at least one acyloxy silane and at least one basic compound. A composition having at least one acyloxy silane and at least one basic compound is also provided, along with a silane coated metal surface.
