Provided herein are polymer compositions comprising a polymer and polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based polymer processing aid (PPA). The polyethylene glycol can have molecular weight less than 40,000 g/mol. The polymer can be a C-Colefin homopolymer or a copolymer of two or more C-Cα-olefins, and the polymer composition can take the form of polymer pellets; a polymer melt; reactor-grade polymer granules and/or polymer slurries; or other form of polymer composition containing the PPA and optionally one or more other additives. The polymer composition is preferably free or substantially free of fluorine, including fluoropolymer-based PPAs.

Fluorine-free polymer processing aids including polyethylene glycols

Provided herein are polymer compositions comprising a polymer and polymer processing aid (PPA) comprising a blend of at least two of: (i) a polyethylene glycol; (ii) a surfactant comprising a sorbitan ester or a polysorbate; and (iii) a metal salt of a fatty acid. The polymer can be a C-Colefin homopolymer or a copolymer of two or more C-C&#x3b1;-olefins, and the polymer composition can take the form of polymer pellets; a polymer melt; reactor-grade polymer granules and/or polymer slurries; or other form of polymer composition containing the PPA and optionally one or more other additives. The polymer composition is preferably free or substantially free of fluorine, including fluoropolymer-based PPAs.

Fluorine-free polymer processing aid blends

Provided herein are polymer compositions and methods of making them, including blending a polymer and a polyethylene glycol (PEG) masterbatch. The PEG masterbatch can include one or more PEGs each having molecular weight less than 40,000 g/mol. The polymer can be a C-Colefin homopolymer or a copolymer of two or more C-C&#x3b1;-olefins. The PEG masterbatch and resulting polymer composition is preferably free or substantially free of fluorine, including fluoropolymer-based PPAs.

Low crystalline polymer compositions

Processes are disclosed for oxygen-tailoring polyethylene, particularly polyethylenes suitable for wire and cable applications. One process includes conveying a first polyethylene having a melt index &#x2266;5.0 and an MWD &#x2266;5.0 through mixing or extrusion apparatus having a feed zone, a melt-mixing zone downstream of the feed zone, and a melt zone downstream of the melt-mixing zone, wherein the temperature of the first polyethylene in the melt zone ranges from about 180&#xb0; C. to about 300&#xb0; C.; and contacting the first polyethylene with an amount of an oxygen-containing gas having at least about 20.0 parts by weight oxygen per million per parts by weight of the first polyethylene (ppm (wt) O). Polyethylene compositions having improved properties, particularly for wire and cable applications are disclosed.

Oxygen tailoring of polyethylene

Provided are ethylene-based polymer compositions, articles made therefrom, and methods of making the same. Ethylene-based polymer compositions include blends of a linear low density polyethylene prepared with metallocene catalyst and a low density polyethylene. The linear low density polyethylene may optionally have about five mole percent or less of monomer units derived from an alpha-olefin comonomer. Articles composed of such ethylene-based polymer compositions, such as blown films, exhibit favorable physical properties, including excellent optical properties and retained strength i.e., mitigation of expected decline in physical strength due to LDPE addition.

Provided are thermoplastic elastomer compositions composed of a thermoplastic component, an elastomeric component, and at least one particulate composition. Particulate compositions are composed of a particulate material and a carrier medium. Exemplary particulate materials include minerals, mineral compounds, including mineral oxides, clays, carbon, nanotubes, and combinations thereof. Typical carrier mediums are one or more polar polymers, apolar polymers, one or more oils, poly &#x3b1;-olefins, or combinations thereof. The at least one particulate composition is dispersed within the thermoplastic component and/or the elastomeric component. Particulate compositions include clay grease compositions wherein a clay, e.g., an exfoliated clay, is utilized as a thickener.

Processes for producing high pressure polyethylene and processes for increasing the crosslinkability of high pressure polyethylene are disclosed. The processes comprise controlling particular reaction parameters that have been found to promote crosslinkability in the resulting high pressure polyethylene.
