A method for communication includes transmitting first and second copies of a signal toward first and second satellite transponders, respectively, so as to cause the first and second satellite transponders to transmit respective first and second downlink signals with mutually-orthogonal linear polarizations toward a coverage region. A correction is applied to at least one of the first and second copies before transmitting the first and second copies. The correction is selected so as to remove a frequency offset between the first and second downlink signals and cause the first and second downlink signals to have a constant phase offset in at least some of the coverage region.

Signal power summation using satellite transponders having orthogonal polarizations

A system for utilizing circular polarized signals to perform satellite communication to mobile users. The satellite includes transponders, each transponder providing linearly polarized signals and at least two orthogonal linear polarized transponders. A plurality of mobile users with a circularly polarized antenna for receiving signals from the satellite, and singly circular or linear polarized transmit antennas for transmitting signals to the satellite. Circuits for providing a correction scheme implemented in a hub side to offset frequency error between two channels produced by the satellite transponder local oscillators mismatch.

Reduced cost mobile satellite antenna system using a plurality of satellite transponders

Antenna and satellite communications assemblies and associated satellite tracking systems that may include a low profile two-way antenna arrangement, tracking systems, and applications thereof. Applications for the system include military, civilian, and domestic emergency response applications. The antenna arrangements may be configured to form a spatial multi-element array able to track a satellite in an elevation plane by electronically dynamically targeting the antenna arrangement and/or mechanically dynamically rotating the antenna arrangements about transverse axes giving rise to generation of respective elevation angles and dynamically changing the respective distances between the axes whilst maintaining a predefined relationship between said distances and the respective elevation angles. The system provides autonomous dynamic tracking of satellite signals and can be used for satellite communications on moving vehicles in a variety of frequency bands for military and civilian applications.

Applications for low profile two-way satellite antenna system

A low profile mobile in-motion antenna and transmit/receive terminal system for two-way 'VSAT' type satellite communication using FSS service, preferably in Ku band, supporting at the same time TV signal reception from the same satellite or a separate DBS satellite located at the same or nearby geo-stationary orbital position.

Applications for low profile two way satellite antenna system

An antenna includes a reflector having a first axis, a second axis, a focal zone that is about parallel to the first axis, and a focal point located within the focal zone. A transmit feed is located at the focal point, and at least one receive feed is located within the focal zone. The transmit feed is part of a bidirectional feed that includes an integral receive feed. The bidirectional feed transmits and receives an RF signal carrying digital information signals to and from a first satellite, such as an FSS satellite, and each respective receive feed receives a signal from satellite, such as a DBS satellite.

Multi-feed reflector antenna

A system and method for automatically positioning/directing satellite antennas towards a satellite with which it is to communicate. The system and method may use characteristics of symmetry of mutually exclusive orthogonal axes. By using the symmetry of the antenna main beams, the ideal direction of the antenna can be attained and, at the same time, maximum cross-polarization may be achieved. The cross polarization may be required in order not to interfere with the orthogonal polarization. The system and method may position the Antenna on three mutually exclusive orthogonal planes, including the azimuth plane, the elevation plane, and the polarization plane. The system and method may include an indoor unit, which may include a satellite receiver, a telemetric transmission, and supply of voltage to a control system and which may control a drive motor and/or an electronic search device; and an outdoor unit, which may include a supervisory unit, a motor, and a control unit. The outdoor unit is preferably configured to conduct a search in the three orthogonal planes which may facilitate positioning the Antenna with a high degree of accuracy.
