A system for applying balancing trim to a module of a gas turbine engine, the module having a compressor having a forward shaft and an aft hub, a turbine connected to the aft hub, and the turbine having a turbine case and an aft shaft, the system having: a support bracket that mounts to the turbine case and supports the module when testing for unbalances, wherein the support bracket has: an outer periphery; outer mounting apertures at the outer periphery, wherein the outer mounting apertures are sized to receive fasteners to connect the support bracket to the turbine case; a center aperture defined by an inner periphery, wherein the center aperture is sized to receive the aft hub; and weight positioning slots defined between the outer mounting apertures and the center aperture; and wherein the outer periphery and the inner periphery are axially spaced apart from each other.

System and method for applying trim balance to a module of the gas turbine engine

An assembly has: a gas turbine engine including: a compressor including a rotor including blades rotatable about a central axis and disposed in a gas path of the gas turbine engine, a stator including one or more vanes disposed in the gas path, and a compressor case disposed around the stator; a combustor downstream of the compressor along the gas path; and a combustor case surrounding the combustor and secured to the compressor case; and a retainer for interlocking the stator with the compressor case when disassembling the combustor case from the compressor case, the retainer including: a base secured to the compressor case; and a pin extending from the base and radially inwardly through the compressor case via an aperture defined in the compressor case, the pin engaging with the stator to prevent axial movement of the stator relative to the compressor case.

Retainer and method for disassembling an aircraft engine

The tooling system can have an extension unit having a pushing member and a pulling member extending along a length, the pushing member and the pulling member in sliding engagement and displaceable relative to one another, the extension unit having an internal passage configured for receiving a portion of the shaft via the first end; a pushing adapter engageable with and disengageable from the pushing member at the first end, and further engageable with and disengageable from one of the shaft and the component; and a pulling adapter engageable with and disengageable from the pulling member at the first end, and further engageable with and disengageable from an other one of the shaft and the component.

Tooling system and methods of assembling and disassembling a rotary assembly therewith

A method of positioning exits of diffuser pipes of a centrifugal compressor in an aircraft engine includes aligning an alignment tool with a structure supporting the diffuser pipes, and rotating each diffuser pipe about an inlet axis thereof to close a gap between a surface of the diffuser pipe and part of the alignment tool until the diffuser pipe abuts the part of the alignment tool. The alignment tool includes for example a body defining a center axis and having at least one tool datum configured for abutting against the casing, and a plurality of alignment members that are fixed to the body and extend radially from the body relative to the center axis.

Diffuser pipe alignment tool

An alignment tool for aligning a plurality of diffuser pipes of a centrifugal compressor relative to a casing of an aircraft engine. The alignment tool includes a body defining a center axis and having at least one tool datum configured for abutting against the casing. A plurality of alignment members are fixed to the body and extend radially from the body relative to the center axis. Each alignment member of the plurality of alignment members has a respective fixed position relative to the at least one tool datum. The plurality of alignment members are configured to abut the plurality of diffuser pipes.
