An apparatus used in a UE includes processing circuitry and memory. To configure the UE for a DNS resolution, the processing circuitry is to encode UL data for transmission to a first EAS via a first data path. The first data path includes a first UL CL UPF and a first PSA. A NAS SM message received from an SMF node is decoded. The NAS SM message includes an EAS rediscovery indication and a list of FQDNs associated with the first EAS. A DNS resolution procedure with a DNS server is performed in response to the EAS rediscovery indication, to obtain an IP address of a second EAS. The DNS resolution procedure is based on the list of FQDNs, and a second data path to the second EAS is established based on the IP address.

Initiation of domain name system (DNS) resolution in 5G systems

Router advertisements may be used to configure multi-homed Protocol Data Unit (PDU) sessions. A first router advertisement message from a first PDU session anchor and a second router advertisement message from a second PDU session anchor may be decoded. A user equipment (UE) may identify, based on the first and second router advertisement messages, a first preference value associated with destination routes of the first network and a second preference value associated with destination routes of the second data network. The UE may determine a destination data network for a signal by comparing a destination route of the signal to destination routes associated with whichever data network has a greater preference value. The UE may prepare the signal with a prefix based on the destination data network.

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for managing multiple anchors for multi-homing

Methods, systems, and devices for offloading traffic flows without service disruption are disclosed herein. User equipment (UE) is configured to receive an indication that a current packet data network (PDN) connection can be optimized. The current PDN connection is established over a first PDN gateway (PGW). The UE requests connection over a new PDN connection to a same type of service as the current PDN connection without releasing the connection over the first PGW. The UE routes new traffic flows over a second PGW corresponding to the new PDN connection and routes old traffic flows over the first PGW.

Systems and methods for efficient traffic offload without service disruption

Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems of selectively providing Internet Protocol (IP) session continuity. In one example, a mobile device may include a radio to communicate with a wireless network, the radio to transmit a session setup request to setup a communication session, and to receive a session setup response in response to the session setup request, the session setup response including a first Internet Protocol (IP) address and a second IP address assigned to the communication session, and an indication that the first IP address is configured to maintain IP session continuity; and a controller to select to use the first IP address for the communication session, if IP session continuity is to be maintained for the communication session, and to select to use the second IP address for the communication session, if IP session continuity is not to be maintained for the communication session.

Apparatus, system and method of selectively providing internet protocol (IP) session continuity

A method and an information handling system configured to select a mobility anchor point for a mobile device in a distributed mobility anchor point network may comprise collecting information about movement behavior or data transfer behavior of the mobile device, or tunneling overhead of two or more base stations. A mobility anchor point associated with a first base station may be assigned to the mobile device if the mobile device is connected to the first base station for at least a predetermined amount of time, if the mobile device transfers at least a predetermined amount of data via the first base station, or device if a tunneling overhead of the first base station is less than a predetermined level. In some embodiments, a centralized mobility anchor may be assigned to the mobile device if the mobile device is highly mobile and there is no identified base station to which the mobile device is frequently connected.

Distributed mobility anchoring for wireless networks

Embodiments of a context-retention controller and method for retaining context in a wireless access network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the context-retention controller may assign a context identifier to a mobile device at network entry for context retention. A disconnection and context-retention request may be received from a base station to trigger entry of the mobile station into a context-retention mode. The base station may generate the disconnection and context-retention request upon an indication of a disconnection of the mobile device from the wireless access network. The context-retention controller may maintain context for the mobile device in a context-retention database after disconnection of the mobile device from the wireless access network.

Discontinuous reception (DRX) controller and method for DRX operation

Embodiments of User Equipment (UE) and methods to support reception of content for use by an application supported by a Port Control Protocol (PCP) client are disclosed herein. The UE may receive, from a PCP server, a first portion of video content for use by the application during a first time period. The UE may send a PCP update message that includes one or more mobility status parameters. The UE may receive a second portion of the video content for use by the application during a second time period. The first and second portions of the video content may be received from a first and a second mobility anchor, which may operate as relays for the PCP server. The second mobility anchor may be determined based on a referred IP prefix included in the PCP date update message.

User equipment, port control protocol server, and methods for signaling device and application feedback

A SIM provider apparatus is disclosed that is configured to generate a first service provider key (SPK) based on master attributes at the SIM provider apparatus. The master attributes, including a master key, are shared by both the SIM provider apparatus and a SIM container. The SIM provider apparatus is further configured to verify a second SPK, received from the SIM container and generated based on the master attributes in the SIM container, is the same as the first SPK. Statistics for optimizing distributed mobility anchoring for wireless networks

Technology for reducing delay in data streaming at a wireless device while improving re-buffering and video quality is disclosed. A missing data segment can be detected based on an out-of-order data segment being received in a plurality of data segments from a network element in a wireless network. A fake acknowledgement (ACK) can be sent to the network element in the wireless network, based on the context information, acknowledging that the missing data segment was received at the wireless device. The out-of-order data segment without the missing data segment can be provided for display at the wireless device.

Transmission control protocol (TCP) based video streaming

A method for generating platform identification is presented. In one embodiment, the method includes determining whether a hash value collision indication is present in a table based on one or more platform attributes. The method includes generating a hash value based at least on the one or more platform attributes if there is no hash value collision indication and setting a platform identifier to a string generated based on the hash value. The method further includes sending a message including at least the platform identifier during network entry.
