A holder apparatus for enabling secure coupling of a variety of medical tool types, having different head member configurations, to a medical device. The apparatus has at least two housing portions that open and close to receive the head member, and an adjustment mechanism that adjusts to the height and/or shape of the head member, such that there is no relative movement between the housing portions and the head member. The adjustment mechanism may be a ratchet mechanism, a semi-flexible fastener, or a moldable material disposed on one or more of the housing portions. There may be a locking mechanism to lock together the housing portions, and a tightening mechanism to secure the grip of the housing portions on the head member. The housing portions may be configured to allow removal of at least a portion of the medical tool from the device.

Universal holder for an insertable medical tool

A portable therapeutic fluid delivery device and a method for delivering a therapeutic fluid into a body of a patient are provided. In one aspect the therapeutic fluid delivery device and the method can be implemented using at least one housing securable to the body of the patient, a reservoir coupled to the at least one housing, a therapeutic fluid dispensing mechanism, a memory component, a controller, at least one bolus delivery button configured to signal the controller to initiate the delivery of the therapeutic fluid into the body of the patient; and, an inadvertent initiation prevention mechanism adapted for preventing the patient from activating the at least one bolus delivery button.

Manually operable portable infusion device

Disclosed are methods and devices that include a therapeutic fluid dispensing device () to deliver a therapeutic fluid into a body of a patient. The device includes a controller to control one or more of fluid delivery operations and notification operations, at least one auditory notifier () to produce one or more acoustic signals in response to application of one or more activation signals by the controller and a plurality of electrical contacts coupled to the at least one auditory notifier to enable the application of the one or more activation signals to the at least one auditory notifier. The device also includes at least one housing retaining the at least one auditory notifier therein, the at least one housing being structured to resonate at least one of the one or more acoustic signals produced by the at least one auditory notifier in response to application of at least one of the one or more activation signals.

In one aspect the apparatus and the method can be implemented using a patch unit () removably attachable to a cradle unit (), said cradle unit removably attachable to the body of the patient; a position detector () comprising a patch portion () and a cradle portion (), said patch portion coupled to the patch unit, said cradle portion coupled to the cradle unit; a processor adapted for receiving a position indication signal from the at least one position detector, said position indication signal corresponding to a physical proximity of the patch portion to the cradle portion, and, wherein the portable therapeutic apparatus is adapted for at least one therapeutic function selected from the group consisting of delivering a therapeutic fluid into the body of the patient and sensing a bodily analyte.

Detachable portable infusion device

Systems, methods and devices are described herein for adjusting the insertion depth of a cannula associated with a portable therapeutic device within the body of a patient. The systems may include a mounting unit securable to the skin of the patient and having a mounting base and a well defining a passageway through the mounting base and a cannula unit including a cannula subcutaneously insertable through the well of the mounting unit. The well may have an adjustable height and/or adjustable anchoring mechanisms that allow for varying and customized insertion depths of the cannula within the body of the patient.
