The present invention provides a composite molding tool including a surface coat that comprises metal powders and mineral fillers, and a composition comprising a resin mixture and metallic fillers. The composition includes at least about 45% metallic fillers, based on the weight percent of the total composition.

A light-weight aerodynamic wing device is adapted for mounting on a vehicle in a generally horizontal orientation and in a generally vertically spaced-apart relationship with the vehicle. The wing device is preferably extruded from aluminum and includes generally horizontal upper and lower peripheral walls interconnected to enclose a hollow elongated body. The body can be horizontally and/or vertically swept after extrusion into desired swept configurations for particular vehicular installations. The wall thickness of one or both of the peripheral wall portions is greatest at the compressed portion of the elongated body in order to substantially prevent buckling during horizontal sweep forming. One or more vertical reinforcing members can also be included in the hollow elongated body and extend between the upper and lower peripheral walls. The wing device also preferably includes air-retaining end caps at opposite ends of the elongated body, with the end caps being adapted to be snapped into the open opposite ends of the hollow extruded body. Mounting means, preferably including one or more universally-adapted stanchion members, are also provided and are adapted to be laterally adjustable along the length of the elongated extruded body in order to accommodate a wide variety of vehicular installations.

A louver assembly adapted to be mounted to the rear window assembly of an automotive vehicle, having an end cap construction and a plurality of elongated channel members, the end cap construction having a plurality of identical right hand end caps and a plurality of similar but reverse formed left hand end caps, a pair of side rails to receive the end caps, a detent structure for locating and securing the channel members in alignment with the associated one of the end caps, the channel member being of a preselected length to connect right hand and left hand end caps in a predetermined spaced relationship whereby the louver assembly will be of the desired width to fit the rear window assembly, the side rails being of a preselected length to accept a selected number of associated end caps whereby the louver assembly will be of the desired length to fit the rear window assembly, an adjustable hinge assembly to permit pivotal movement of the louver assembly relative to the window assembly and being adjustable to vary the height of the louver assembly and the fore and aft position of the louver assembly relative to the window assembly, and a latch structure to inhibit tampering with the louver assembly.

A louver assembly adapted to be mounted to the rear window assembly of an automotive vehicle having a pair of integrally formed, one piece end cap unit and a plurality of elongated channel members, the end cap unit having a plurality of identical right hand end caps and a plurality of similar but reverse formed left hand end caps, a detent structure for locating and locking the channel members in alignment with the associated one of the end caps with resilient bias means for enhancing the lock and minimizing noise, the channel member being of a preselected length to connect right hand and left hand end caps in a predetermined spaced relationship whereby the louver assembly will be of the desired width to fit the rear window assembly, the end cap units being of a preselected length to provide a selected number of end caps whereby the louver assembly will be of the desired length to fit the rear window assembly, the end cap units being generally flexible between adjacent end caps whereby the end cap units can fit the vertical sweep the rear window, the channel members formed to provide a horizontal sweep, the end caps having tongue members adapted to be received within the associated ends of the channel members and being tapered to permit acceptance of the channel member ends over a wide range of angles while still providing support, guide means operative between the tongues of the end caps and the channel members to guide the same into engagement and including a blocking structure to preclude assembly of the channel members onto the tongues with the sweep in the wrong direction.

A combined hardtop-soft top conversion structure and method for notchback coupes generally comprising (a) the removal of rear side glass and rear window, removal of the vehicle roof just near of the 'A' pillar and rear of the inner header structure, with the removal being complete from the top of the 'B' pillars to the bottom of the 'C' pillars, (b) the attachment of a roll bar to the upper ends of the 'B' pillars and gusset reinforcements to the rear of the 'B' pillars, (c) capping the roll bar, 'B' pillar and gusset reinforcements with a molded plastic bow (sometimes referred to as a `targa` bow), (d) attachment of a folding convertible top to the rear of the `targa` bow, (e) attachment of a front roof support or header to the remaining front roof portion and inner header structure, and (f) insertion of a removable hard roof or hatch supported between the front roof support and the front of the `targa` bow.
