The present disclosure provides pharmaceutical compositions for treating fungal and bacterial infections. The pharmaceutical compositions of the disclosure comprise a cationic surfactant, a chelating agent, and at least one solvent. The pharmaceutical compositions of the disclosure can be used to treat drug-sensitive or multi drug-resistant bacterial or fungal infections.

Anti-infective formulations

The present disclosure describes a method of treating an infection, including a parasitic infection, using compounds of the invention. The compounds of the invention can selectively eradicate intracellular mammalian and human parasites.

Small molecules with anti-protozoan activity

The present disclosure describes a method to treat conditions, including bacterial infections and cancer, using a photosensitive compound that, upon exposure to white light, can be activated. The photosensitive compound can also interact synergistically with antibiotics used concomitantly to kill drug-resistant bacteria. The photosensitive compounds can also be used to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells.
