The present disclosure provides a dual mode antenna, comprising: a first conductive piece; and a second conductive piece, configured to electromagnetically couple with the first conductive piece through a dielectric at a second frequency to operate as a loop antenna with the first conductive piece and configured to operate independently of the first conductive piece at a first frequency to operate as a monopole antenna. The dual mode antenna can be included in an antenna array as one of a plurality of dual mode antennas coupled to a routing substrate or a reference dual mode antenna coupled to the routing substrate along with a plurality of single mode antennas coupled to the routing substrate; wherein each antenna of the plurality of dual mode antennas, the reference dual mode antenna, and the plurality of single mode antennas is arranged evenly relative to a first neighboring antenna and a second neighboring antenna.

Low-profile angle of arrival antennas

A method for providing adaptive radio transmit power based on antenna pattern and elevation tilt measured through an accelerometer is provided. The method includes estimating an orientation of a wireless device using an orientation sensor integrated in or on the wireless device, and determining an adjustment factor for a transmitter of the wireless device based on the orientation. The method further includes adjusting output power of the transmitter of the wireless device based on the adjustment factor.

Adaptive radio transmit power based on antenna/device orientation

Embodiments herein describe mounting one or more lasers onto an AP to generate a laser pattern on a surface representing the coverage area of an antenna in the AP. In one embodiment, the antenna is a steerable antenna that can be electronically or mechanical steered to point to different directions (without moving the AP as a whole). The laser or lasers can be used to visualize the coverage area of the steerable antenna when pointing in different directions. Advantageously, a technician can use the laser or lasers to identify a location where, if steered, the antenna would provide the desired coverage area. The technician can then steer the antenna to point in that direction to provide the desired radio frequency (RF) coverage.

An electronically a steerable and switchable antenna array is provided that can produce a first beam with a first coverage range and a second beam with a second coverage range by selecting one of a first and a second beamwidth for both the first and second beams; in response to selecting the first beamwidth: switching signal inputs to narrow-beam antenna arrays; steering the first beam to one of a first positive, negative, or zero offset position; independently steering the second beam to one of a second positive, negative offset, or zero offset position; and transmitting signals received from the signal inputs via the first beam and the second beam; and in response to selecting the second beamwidth: switching signal inputs to wide-beam antenna arrays; and transmitting signals received from the signal inputs via the first beam and the second beam.

Electronically steerable antenna array

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a first omnidirectional antenna for coupling to a first radio to establish a first macro cell and a second omnidirectional antenna for coupling to a second radio to establish a second macro cell. The first and second omnidirectional antennas are configured for concurrent 5 GHz radio operation while maintaining at least 40 dB of isolation between the first and second omnidirectional antennas. In one embodiment, a method is performed. A device may receive an antenna state configuration and a sequence from a wireless access point (AP) device. A plurality of antenna states configured on the device may be selected based on the antenna state configuration and the sequence. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) measurement may be determined. A beacon signal may be transmitted for each selected antenna state. Each transmitted beacon signal may indicate a corresponding selected antenna state.
