A circuit includes a ring oscillator, a current source, an amplifier, a resistor-capacitor (RC) network, and a bias circuit. The current source is configured to power the ring oscillator. The amplifier is configured to control the current source. The amplifier has a first amplifier input and a second amplifier input. The RC network is coupled to the first amplifier input. The bias circuit is coupled to the second amplifier input. The bias circuit is configured to selectably set a frequency range of the ring oscillator, and selectably set a frequency of the ring oscillator within the frequency range.

Oscillator with frequency control

In examples, an electronic device comprises an oscillator circuit configured to provide an output signal and a controller coupled to the oscillator circuit. The controller is configured to receive first and second target rates; dynamically adjust a frequency accuracy of the output signal based on the first target rate; and dynamically adjust an amplitude of the output signal based on the second target rate.

One example relates to a monitoring circuit that includes a capacitive digital-to-analog converter that receives a binary code, a reference voltage, a monitored voltage, and a ground reference, the capacitive digital-to-analog converter outputting an analog signal based on the binary code, the reference voltage, the monitored voltage, and the ground reference. The monitoring circuit further includes a comparator including a first input coupled to receive the analog signal and a second input coupled to the reference voltage, the comparator comparing the analog signal to the reference voltage and outputting a comparator signal based on the comparison. The monitoring circuit yet further includes a binary code generator that generates the binary code based on the comparator signal, the binary code approximating a magnitude of the monitored voltage.

Voltage monitor using a capacitive digital-to-analog converter

An electronic device comprises a regulator, and an oscillator and a resistor coupled to the regulator. The electronic device further comprises a feedback controller that includes a differential amplifier coupled between the oscillator, the resistor, and the regulator. The feedback controller is configured to apply a control voltage to the regulator in response to a resistor voltage upon the resistor and an oscillator voltage upon the oscillator. The feedback controller can be coupled to control a substantially equal voltage upon the resistor and the oscillator.

Oscillator closed loop frequency control

A reference generator provides a reference output voltage that is continuously available while providing certain efficiencies of a duty-cycled voltage regulator. The reference output voltage is generated by a sample-and-hold circuit that is coupled to a voltage regulator. On command, the sample-and-hold circuit samples a low dropout voltage regulator that may be referenced by a bandgap circuit. During hold periods of the sample-and-hold circuit, the voltage regulator, in particular the bandgap circuit, may be disabled in order to conserve power. A sample cycle by the sample-and-hold circuit may be triggered by a signal received from a configurable finite state machine. The reference generator is effectively duty cycled in a manner that conserves available battery power, while still providing a constant reference output that is always available. The reference generator is especially suited for low-power, battery operated applications.

Circuit and method for generating a reference voltage with a voltage regulator and a sample and hold circuit

A circuit includes an oscillator having a driver and a resonator. The driver receives a supply voltage at a supply input and provides a drive output to drive the resonator to generate an oscillator output signal. A power converter receives an input voltage and generates the supply voltage to the supply input of the driver. A temperature tracking device in the power converter controls the voltage level of the supply voltage to the supply input of the driver based on temperature such that the supply voltage varies inversely to the temperature of the circuit.

Temperature compensated oscillator driver

A circuit includes an oscillator having a driver and a resonator. The driver receives a supply voltage at a supply input and provides a drive output to drive the resonator to generate an oscillator output signal. A power converter receives an input voltage and generates the supply voltage to the supply input of the driver. The power converter varies the supply voltage based on an adjust command supplied to a command input of the power converter. A detector monitors a voltage level of the oscillator output signal. A controller sets the adjust command to the power converter to control the supply voltage to the supply input of the driver such that the voltage level of the oscillator output signal is set at or above a predetermined threshold voltage.

Systems and methods of low power docking of sleep mode radios are disclosed herein. In an example embodiment, a crystal oscillator is purposefully mistuned to achieve lower power consumption, and then synchronized using a high frequency crystal oscillator. In an alternative embodiment, the input offset voltages of the comparator in an RC oscillator are cancelled, which allows low power operation and high accuracy performance when tuned to the high frequency crystal. A lower power comparator may be used with higher input offset voltages but still achieve higher accuracy. The RC circuit is switched back and forth on opposite phases of the output, cancelling the offset voltage on the inputs of the comparator.

Systems and methods of low power clocking for sleep mode radios

A system and method integrates signal filters in a multiband transceiver. A preferred embodiment comprises an amplifier with a first tunable capacitor coupled to a signal input and a tunable filter. The tunable filter comprises an input stage with a first pair of inductors arranged in a dipole configuration and a second tunable capacitor coupled in parallel to the first pair of inductors and an output stage inductively coupled to the input stage, the output stage includes a second pair of inductors also arranged in a dipole configuration and a third tunable capacitor coupled in parallel to the second pair of inductors. The inductors are realized using bond wire or any other high Q material. The first tunable capacitor, the second tunable capacitor, and the third tunable capacitor can be tuned using a master-slave tuning configuration to adjust the operating frequency of the amplifier and the tunable filter to enable frequency band compatibility with multiple communications protocols.

Integrated radio frequency filters for multiband transceivers

A method of operating a power up circuit is disclosed. The method includes receiving an input voltage and creating a plurality of sample voltages from the input voltage. One of the sample voltages is selected and compared to a reference voltage. The power up circuit produces a brown-out signal in response to the step of comparing.

Methods and apparatus for DC-DC power controller with low standby current and fast transient response. In an example arrangement, an apparatus includes a voltage converter outputting a direct current output voltage, configured to increase the output voltage responsive to an enable control signal; at least one feedback comparator configured to output a first control signal, the feedback comparator being active responsive to an edge at a clock signal input; an adjustable frequency oscillator for outputting a first clock signal; and a fast transient detect circuit configured to output a second signal asynchronously upon detecting a rapid change greater than a voltage threshold in the output voltage; the voltage converter receiving the enable control signal when either the first clock signal is active, or the second signal is active and the output voltage is less than a reference voltage. Additional apparatus and methods are disclosed.
