A skin treatment device provides feedback to a user relating to the force or pressure they are applying. In addition to the feedback provided for indicating that the pressure is too high, correct, or too low, there is a further feedback type when the force or pressure is below a lowest threshold value, indicating that there is no contact between the skin and the device. Providing the same feedback information when the user is applying a too low pressure as when the user has deliberately released the device from contact with the skin is thereby avoided.

Skin treatment device and method of controlling a skin treatment device

An electric shaver having a shaving unit and a sensor with a first sensor unit fixed to a main body and a second sensor unit fixed to a sensor unit carrier, for indicating a distance between the sensor units. The shaving unit and the sensor unit carrier are suspended to the main body for displacement along a z-axis between a rest position and a pushed-in position in response to a pushing force exerted onto a shaving face of the shaver. The first and second sensor units are located in positions offset from the z-axis over a distance (d) in an x-direction. An anti-tilting guide is provided for guiding the sensor unit carrier against tilting about a y-axis.

Pressure sensing electric shaver

A personal care device has a main functional unit and an ancillary functional unit which is displaced between a non-operational position and an operational position using a biasing arrangement. A magnet arrangement is used to exert a magnetic holding on the ancillary functional unit in the operational position. This provides a stable support of the ancillary functional unit in the operational position without requiring a strong biasing arrangement.
